I think it would be reasonable to conclude if the shell were exploded properly over New York City in the middle of a busy day with three or four liters of sarin it would kill thousands if not ten’s of thousands.

It would make the World Trade Center look minor in the scheme of things…

I heard a comment from a former US military person that dealt with such wepons that 3.8 liters of sarin contains roughly 60,000 leathal doses. Now, even if the conditions were right and used in a very crowded location you'd probably only get 10-20% of that number.

I think it's reasonable to assume that if the terrorists figure out how to identify this stuff that they will use it more appropriately next time. I would venture to guess that if they do manage this that they could kill a couple hundred people.

I for one will be totally convinced there is at least a small stash of this stuff somewhere if another one of these shells turns up.

Yes.
Is that all you really want to know or are you baby stepping this someplace?

I'm letting the "as ever" part slide and will assume there was no political intent.

No political intent and baby steps toward any larger political platform intended whatsoever.

The underplaying of the importance of this simply scares me, just as the underplaying of the importance of some bozo being able to unwittingly pass through airport security with a loaded handgun...which has happened several times since 9/11...or being able to stash a bundle of case-cutters in an airplane bathroom.

Why aren't all people, regardless of which political affiliation you have or tv news channel you prefer to watch, rising up and expressing serious concern about this? I think this is mind-boggling.

Four liters of sarin...which was found in a single shell...can kills tens of thousands of people if used correctly. THAT'S A LOT OF INNOCENT PEOPLE!!

Ok, that's acceptable.

I'm sure you can understand why I can't afford to give you a free pass just because you're the webmaster.
I've got my hands full with Burt.

As you stated if the ordinance is used correctly it could kill many. That is the major problem with chemical munitions is how do you spread it to kill many. Biologicals are easy chemicals are not. Sunlight, humidity, wind, and rain all work to degrade and eventually render nutral all chemical weapons.
