Unusual Road Trip!

I needed to tell this story somewhere, nobody around this house appreciates it. Last week, while eating breakfast with a couple of buddies, one of them says he needs to find a car trailer to go pickup a new car he bought for his wife’s birthday. He wants to surprise her with it next month. I thought about it for a minute, then reminded him I was retired and willing to drive him to get the car. He told me it was in Knoxville, Tn., about 4 hours from here. I told him it didn’t matter, I’d do it anyway. He called me later that night from his lake house and mentioned he had a great idea. Why don’t I go by his house down the street from me and pick up his Vette and we would drive it. 2002 Coupe, black on black, heads up display, every option you can think of, upgraded to Z06 status, 7,000 miles on it. I didn’t argue long, in fact I didn’t argue at all. I ran by his house, and picked up the vette. Left Friday morning to meet him on I-77 near his lake house. We drove to Knoxville, stopped at USI motors, and picked up the car. A 2003 BMW 330, bright red with about 900 miles on it. We drove back stopping ever hour to swap cars and CD’s. Traffic was amazingly light, and we did several stretches of highway at 90+ and 100+. What a way to compare two great road cars. The BMW was smooth, fast and silent at all speeds. It leaned a little in the fast corners, but always in total control. The Vette was everything you’d want in a sportscar, throaty sound, stiff ride, pull your cheeks(upper and lower) back acceleration, and skateboard cornering.
BTW The company where he purchased the BMW is a must stop if you travel through Knoxville. There were several Carreras, inlcuding a turbo, a Rolls Royce, many Rovers, Mercedes, BMW’s, etc.
Below is a picture at a reststop after crossing back into NC.

Oh, added bonus. My buddy wasn't coming home from the lake house till Sunday or Monday, so he told me to keep the Vette and have some fun. He just wanted it back in the garage Sunday night.

I started getting jealous when I read the word 'retired' and it went downhill from there.

When I retire I'll call you up, we'll go out to the pen, pick out a couple of fast ones and go on a 400 mille road trip.

I'll bet the goats will really hug the road with you and 01 aboard.

Retired is just another way of saying unemployed.
