If You Love Your Pets... "Warning"

I just received this email and while I can't confirm if this message is correct, or just email BS, I thought I would at least post the info because it does sound reasonable.

If it is just BS, please accept my apology.

Regards

FYI

I recently had a neighbor who had to have their 5-year old German Shepherd dog put down due to liver failure. The dog was completely healthy until a few weeks ago, so they had a necropsy done to see what the cause was.

The liver levels were unbelievable, as if the dog had ingested poison of some kind. The dog is kept inside, and when he's outside, someone's with him, so the idea of him getting into something unknown was hard to believe. My neighbor started going through all the items in the house. When he got to the Swifter Wetjet, he noticed, in very tiny print, a warning which stated "may be harmful to small children and animals."

He called the company to ask what the contents of the cleaning agent are and was astounded to find out that antifreeze is one of the ingredients. (actually he was told it's a compound which is one molecule away from antifreeze). Therefore, just by the dog walking on the floor cleaned with the solution, then licking it's own paws, and the dog eating from its dishes which were kept on the kitchen floor cleaned with this product, it ingested enough of the solution to destroy its liver.

Soon after his dog's death, his housekeepers' two cats also died of liver failure. They both used the Swifter Wetjet for quick cleanups on their floors. Necropsies weren't done on the cats, so they couldn't file a lawsuit, but he asked that we spread the word to as many people as possible so they don't lose their animals."

My ol' lady uses a wet jet (for about a year now) and our dog seems ok (well just as stupid as she always was). Who ever heard of a gun shy German Sheppard? Can't take the dog hunting. But this does warrant some investigation. Thank's for the info.

Habibi, I think that 01XLT will get some pleasure just reading about the demise of the 2 cats in the story...

Thanks for cleaning that up fellas, my apologies for posting bs.
I had a nagging gut feeling it may have been just another bs thing, but I didnt know for sure, and since I know many of you love your pets as much as we do, I didnt think a cautious "heads up" would hurt.

You're such a bonehead.... LOL!

No seriously... when it comes to Lexi, I'd rather know it and it not be true than to find out the hard way...

Ethylene Glycol, undiluted, as little as 1/3 of a cup is fatal to a 30 pound dog. However antifreeze causes kidney failure not liver damage, so the warning could not be real anyhow. But we animal lovers appreciate your gesture Habibi.

Yes, raisins and grapes both pose a threat to dogs, in large quantities they can cause kidney failure. Chocolate is also a hazard, baking chocolate is worse than sweet chocolate, it contains more of a substance called theobromine which can cause seizures, heart failure and death in all small animals, not just dogs.

Can you tell I'm taking a Veterinary Assistant course??
