Stupid question Tuesday...

Okay, I'll start...

On the crime shows when they're talking about a suspect they always refer to his/her M.O. What does this mean? I know what it means, but what does M.O. stand for? Or am I just misunderstanding them?

Okay, I'm done... for now...

A little more...

...looking for the correct definition I came across this which pretty much sums it up:

Encyclopedia article

Modus operandi (almost always used in the abbreviated form MO) is a Latin phrase, approximately translatable as "mode of operation", used in police work to describe a criminal's characteristic patterns and style of work.
