Powder coating question...

Okay, so I've been told powdercoating works fine over chrome, but now I'm curious, will it fill in minor scratches, or will I need to buff out all the pieces before taking them to a powder coater?

I'm planning on powder coating all the dash and windshield trim on my Belvedere, and there's almost 40 years of small scratches, but nothing big, no knicks or scrapes...

When I read Belvedere and 40 years, i'm thinking your talking about stainless??? Yes powder coat will stick to stainless and no you shouldn't have to do anything as long as the parts don't need any body work or filler. I beleive they will scotch bright or sand the parts before coating them.

If your talking about actual chrome plating, i am pretty sure the chrome needs to be removed for propper adhesion.

In either case, you wouldn't need to worry about the small scratches caused from wiping them down etc.
