Psh, you didn't want her getting jealous of her driving another stick. Heh.

The 6 will always trail the GTs/Cobras
True, but six cylinders today are much more lethal than of the past. The 2005 Stang is getting a new 202 HP V6 with more displacement (4.0 Liter I believe). The '93-'97 Probe GT's had little 2.5L V6's that would pull mid to low 15's in the quarter, and with very little modding (KLZE, intake and exhaust) they will shoot very easily into the mid 14's. Actually, I know of a guy in Ohio that runs a 13.7 in his V6 Probe, not bad at all. The benefit of the little sixes is MUCH lower insurance (most of the time) and better gas milage. The drawbacks are the nasty V8 torque and V8 growl that everyone loves. I think a V6 for her will be fine.

Besides, mustang GT's are slow!

LOL
Now Now there clonie,

GT's aren't that slow. The 1/4 mile times for the 2004's range anywhere from 13.7 to 14.5 depending on track/ driver/ weather conditions. I'll be getting an 04 GT when I get my first job this Fall or early 05. And I think I like that Sonic Blue color. I was thinking about getting white or silver. But no, I like the SB better. There, you've changed my mind.

GTs are slow when you take into account the domestic (and even import--WRX STi, EVO VIII) competition. Though that (domestic) is nill (save the Vette and GTO) at the moment, GM always had a leg up on the Mustang. A number of contemporary sedans are coming with 240-260hp (at the fly) out of the box, putting them in the power range of the 99-04 GTs. Kind of sad if you think about it.

Most bone stock GTs run right around 14 flat. I've seen them run as slow as 14.9s, or even as fast as mid 13s. Stock LS1s are looking at low 13s. 5.7L > 4.6L

I would really wait till the 05 if I were you. The GTs will have 300hp (again, just enough to keep up with 98+ F-bodies), plus the new bodystyle.

Then there's the whole... Mustangs plow like biatches; bodyroll like you wouldn't believe. Trust me, I used to own one, and I spent well over $1500 on suspension mods trying to get it to handle decently. Supposedly they've made some changes in the 05 that are supposed to help that, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I would get an 05, but I promised my Dad I would buy him a Harley Springer softail. The base price of the new 05 GT will $28K plus some change according to an insider at Brad's Mustang site. The 04' GT's should be within' my budget which is why that's why I want one. I love the 05's, but I'ma gonna have wait a while to get one. I'd rather see the look on my Dad's face when I buy him a Harley (his dream machine) than anything. Even getting an 05 Stang.
