Texas Hospitality and Platinum SD
Texas Hospitality and Platinum SD
Made my first trip to Texas this weekend. I went to Conroe to help ease the passing of my grandmother in her final hours. The hospital staff was top-notch and very kind. Overall, our visit was nice and everyone else we had dealings with (hotel staff, restaurant employees, airport, etc) were courteous and helpful.
A REALLY BIG "Thank you!" to Texas for being a pleasant surprise. The best things I recall about Conroe are the forest (I'm in SoCal - basically desert) and the quiet at night. No helicopters, few Harleys, NO CARS THAT GO BOOM!!! And sounds of nature coming through my hotel window put me to sleep nicely.
Also, when we were in the Houston airport, I saw a beautiful sight - a F-250 SD Lariat CrewCab Paltinum Edition. Had to wipe the drool off the guy's front fender (just kidding!). Never knew they had a 'Platinum Edition' - anyone else seen these? Are they just in Texas?

glad ya like texas. sorry to hear about your grandmother. hopefully you get to visit texas again for a fun reason. to get a real taste of what texas is all about you gotta get away from the big cities. next time your here check out Gruene, Texas near San Marcos. they have the biggest dancehall in texas. or you could go to Fort Worth and check out Billy Bob's, another big dancehall. Fort Worth also has the Stockyards, which is really cool for tourists wanting to see what old Texas was like (its like an old western town with saloons, general stores, and the whole bit). but its the small towns that really show you what texas is like. try to avoid cities like houston because that will give you a bad impression of texas, believe me, ive lived here all my life. texas is the best though, i could never even think about moving out of texas.
ive never heard of a F-250 Platinum, so i guess they arent just in texas. maybe they are, but ive never heard of it. there is nothing about them on the Ford website either

Texas is a great state; I moved there from the northeast and the change in general demeanor was amazing. People I didn't even know would wave as I passed them.
Sorry to hear about your grandmother, but at least your visit was enjoyable.

Yep, they are NICE. I saw a few at the dealership we got our Lariat from. I've seen a few out on the street too.

Ford's Super Duty F-Series Trucks Go Platinum
FORD MOTOR COMPANY PRESS RELEASE
Louisville, KY, September 20, 2000 - Ford Motor Company rolled a new, limited edition Super Duty F-Series pickup off the line today at its Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville. The "Platinum Edition" Super Duty F-250 will commemorate the company's milestone of producing its one millionth Super Duty F-Series since the truck's major redesign for the 1999 model year.
"Producing one million trucks in this segment in just two model years - and sustaining the customer demand for them - is quite an accomplishment," said Bill Osborne, vehicle line director for Ford's over-8500-pound GVW trucks. "What better way to celebrate that achievement than by producing a very special truck for our loyal customers to mark the occasion?"
The 2001 Platinum Edition Ford Super Duty F-250 is offered with the high-end Lariat trim level and the class-leading interior room of Super Duty's Crew Cab configuration. It is also offered as a 4x4 and has a 6-foot, ¾-inch bed. In addition to the equipment standard with the Lariat trim level, the Platinum Edition Super Duty F-250 will offer customers several unique features:
Two-tone leather front and rear seats with "Platinum Edition" logo
Floor Mats (front and rear) with "Platinum Edition" logo
Unique front center console with chrome clip
Color-keyed grille
Solid chromed bumper
Two-tone exterior paint colors of Mineral Gray/Silver Metallic
Color-keyed windshield visor
Color-keyed door handles and tailgate handle
Chrome tubular running boards with platinum-colored step pads
Unique platinum-colored Super Duty F-250 badging
Special Platinum Edition badging
"The Platinum Edition Super Duty F-Series will be perfect for customers who are looking for their truck to be tough and capable, but as a limited edition that will stand apart from the other trucks on the road," said Lew Echlin, Ford Division Super Duty F-Series marketing manager. "Platinum Edition customers will have a Super Duty F-250 with every ounce of 'Built Ford Tough' towing power, payloads and interior Crew Cab room, combined with a unique style and flair."
The limited edition "Platinum Edition" Super Duty F-250 will be built at Ford's Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville. It will be available primarily to customers in the Southwest region of the United States beginning next month, and will carry an MSRP of $1,595 over the price of a regular production Super Duty F-250 Lariat with the same configuration.
