hd tv question
i have narrowed my search down to 2 tvs .
the samsung 43" widescreen DLP for about $3k
or the sony 42" LCD for about $2,600
can anyone tell me if one has an advantage over the other? LCD vs. DLP.
i know the lcd has a life of 10,000 hours with a tube that has to be replace around 2000 to 3000 hours.
what is the life span of the DLP?

Both will last the same amount of time. it is the bulb that goes out. the DLP will be brighter. the difference is this. Think of the screen as a bunch of different layers and one looks like a screen (like in a window) and each of those openings have a door. in a LCD doors fully open and close giving you the correct light for the picture that you are watching. a DLP, actually uses mirrors and just reflects the light, therefore not actually losing light in the process, making the picture brighter. Either one is fine, but DLP is just the new thing. If you are looking to save some money, get a projector. I have an HD projector LCD widescreen, new, for $1400, no tax, free ship. And right now it is at 109". but you can make the screen smaller. but if you are just looking for on ni the living room, not a theater room, get the TV. Personally, I would go with the samsung over the sony, sony is garbage.
