Where Will We Be In A Year?

Just finished looking at the daily news dealing with Iraq
US Marines
and was wondering where all this will stand in a year from
now. Any predictions on what the situation will be like?

I believe a year from now the violence in Iraq will have stablized and President Kerry will approve a gradual drawdown of our forces. He and I both realize that a complete withdrawal will not be possible for many many years.

Stand by, wait for it, it won't be long now. A reaction from he who knows all, tells all, and if you don't agree you are a Liberal, which must be a bad thing.

I agree 90%. Everything except the whole "President Kerry" thing, unless he's the president of your glee club or something.

Talking

That was 'subliminal text'.
You weren't supposed to consciously pick up on it.

This is great!
I don't think I've ever had a post where two people agreed me all the way to the 90th percentile.

Don't worry, it worked. My subconscious slapped me on the back of the head & said "reread that before you post".

That's the best one you've ever posted Raoul.

Regardless of political orientation, I think that anyone with the slightest sense of reality knows that a complete pullout won't be possible in the near future. Anyone who dosn't realize that is living in a fantasy land, but there are a fair number of peole out there that do live in this fantasy land. Someone I work with actually said the other day (in the context of the war in Iraq, which I'll admit is controversial, but this was ridiculous) "I don't understand why we have military bases in Germany and Japan". I just ended the conversation and walked away. It's not a happy happy joy joy world where we can all live in harmony and just do our own thing, the only reason they can think that is b/c that for the last 50 years at any time, somewhere in the world there has always been an American soldier putting his life on the line to allow people to be that unrealistically secure and ignorant, that is a fact. I don't begrudge people their beliefs, liberal/ conservative, democrat/ republican, but i refuse to respect or talk with people who can't see the world for what it really is. Ok to end my rant, I'm going to quote a very wise man (my father) who once told me that "to be a reasonable person you always have to be willing to accept the fact that your opinion isn't any more valid that anyone elses' opinion and regardless of how strongly you feel about a particular subject you have to at least acknowledge the possibility that you could be wrong. People who can't do this are not worth your time to argue with."

I'm not saying it's right, but we did a "Complete Pull out" in Vietnam and hundreds of thousands were Killed by the Comer Rouge (sp?)...

We did a "complete pull out" in Iraq in 91 and tens of thousands were killed by Sadaam trying to rebel... Let's not be Naive here..

We've got a Long way to go in Iraq, Regardless of who's president. After we go into this city and kill a couple thousand more for revolting, the Iraqi's aren't going to like us Any more.. Sadly, You gotta do it. There's just no negotiating with these people. Just having "infidels" On their land is enough for them to die for. I think at least getting a Real coalition there though with the UN will help get rid of the American Occupation feelings they have now.

1/2 of the "New" Iraqi army has already deserted. We're probably going to do a half assed handover of power in June which is only going to cause More fighting. You guys are pretty optimistic saying a Year, especially after we suffered the Most fatalities in the Entire war This Month!

Back the truck up cause some people are going in the wrong direction…

We will be in Iraq, my opinion, for at least the next 5 – 10 years. Not with all the forces we have now but we will be there. June 30th is just a date and nothing more. No body is coming home because of June 30th it is simply a date on which Iraq will “try” to begin governing itself. If they are not able to or not able to protect themselves then that’s what our forces are for.

NOBODY did any type of “wrong” pullout in 91 either. We were DONE with our mission as was outlined by President Bush Sr. and there was no reason to stay with a large force. We never COMPLETELY pulled out in 91, we still had a small force there in Saudi. Where ever your getting that left wing information is absolute BS…
