One EXTREMELY lucky state trooper

For work we have to cover 2 cities and today I was going to St Augustine or a call and I was doing about 70 in a 65 going south. Well a State Trooper in a camaro passed by going north. No big deal right? Well about 30 seconds later a sport bike passes me doing about a 150 mph. He passed me and within 1 secs I could not see him anymore on a long straight road. Well I look in my rear view mirror and see the state trooper coming up behind me doing over a 100 trying to catch the motorcycle. So I started pulling off to the side of the road. Well someone either pulled out from a side road or changed lanes right in front of the trooper because he tried to swerve around the car. He started swerving all over the road and then spun around and at one point came up on 2 wheels. Then he got it turned and he went across the median across oncoming traffic and spun around again and landed in a ditch facing the road. I stopped and was going to see if he needed help to get out. He got out and slammed his hand down on his hood, then looked and then he got back in and turned the wheel and was able to get out.

I truly believe that if he had been driving any other cop car other than that camaro, he would have flipped and probably got killed or seriously injured. Because the car sits so low, no air could get underneath it and flip him over. If he would have flipped, he would probably have landed right on me or very close. Seeing that happen was very scary. And this was all because of some stupid SOB driving that fast on his motorcycle on a street like that. That trooper was just very lucky he did not flip that car.

I bet that was a site to see. In my opinion, it was crazzy for the Trooper to pursue the motorcycle. If the bike wanted to, the trooper could never catch him. Its far to dangerous chasing then letting them kill themselves. But he is one lucky guy. A trooper in Oklahoma wasn't so lucky earlier this year. He approached a car that he had pulled over and recieved a lethal shot to the chest.

gonna have to take camera along next time.

i hate those guys that run their bikes on MY friggin highway---makes me want to pull out in front of them and make them eat my tailgate. Ive got a video of a guy in a Hyabusa passing a cop on the highway doing 185mph, and flips him off as he goes around him. Stupid SOB makes me wanna shoot him.

I will say that going that fast with traffic around is real dumb. I have been know to push it a bit on empty roads, but once I see traffic I cut it the heck out. Cagers don't see bikes seems to be the norm, so adding some speed to the mix makes it worse.

The Trooper should have know better, the rubber band effect, the amount of time and speed needed to catch someone going that fast is un-obtainable in a car ( unless it is a F1 car ), and he should have used Motorola instead. Nothing on the road can out run Motorola.

As for YOUR highway, wanting to create an accident or shoot them, good to know that you never break the law yourself. The posted limit is there for safety reasons, and ANY amount over it is considered un-safe, and potentially putting yourself and others at risk, so if you speed you are doing the same thing, on YOUR highway.
Myself when I see anyone pulloing this type of crap ( cage or cycle ) I give them room to get the heck away from me. I don't want my truck ( or myself ) damaged, so getting them away from me is the best thing. Just like drunk drivers, it is easier to control them when they are in front of you, not behind you, and make sure at least you get home in one piece. Just get them away from yourself, and let Darwin take care of the remainder of the equation.

I didn't even see the bike before he passed me. I only saw him when he flew by me. You guys are right, that trooper never should have tried to catch him. Even though he was in a camaro, he still would have never caught him because by the time that he turned around, the bike was already a minute or so ahead of me and probably about 10 miles up the road. I kind of think that the only reason that this trooper decided to chase was because he had a fast car. Those Camaros are pretty fast too. As soon as I saw the trooper I was off the road pretty quickly.

If someone is driving that fast, I would never attempt to slow someone else down by getting in front of them. That would be an accident waiting to happen. If I had done that to that bike, he probably been killed on impact if he had ran into the back of me because there is no way that he could have swerved out of the way.

The Tropper should have remembered..."The radio is faster than the radial"
