Hi guys. I am new to the board and new to the whole "truck" experience. I bought a 2000 F150 XL flareside. Not to many frills. I have an opportunity to buy seats from a Lightning, will these seats bolt right in? Will I be able to hook up the power options on the new seats? How much work is involved in swapping the seats? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. If any of you had the truck I bought, (2000 F150 xl 6cyl) what would be your first purchase for performance upgrades?

pfk167,
Welcome to F150online. You will love this site because there is tons of information and a lot of really good people…
As far as changing out your seats. As was mentioned there should be no problem since it is the same cab across the line (reg. cab) as far as the power is concerned you may or may not be able to use it. If there is a connector there then you would be in luck and may need a few fuses and/or relays. If you have the owner’s manual you can look in there to see what fuses and/or relays may be needed.
I think, and very well could be wrong, but I believe that most if not all the trucks are wired for all the options to help cut cost (so there all made the same and not having to wire particular cabs for particular options). You could try talking to a service manager at a Ford dealer and asking.
As far as performance upgrades I do not believe the Micro tuner 1715 is available for the V6 (4.2), at least it hasn’t been for some time. However you can get a performance chip from Mike Troyer that is made specifically for your trucks computer. In other words its not a “one chip fits all”. I would highly recommend getting a performance chip from Mike not only because it is much better then a “standard” chip else where it helps performance through the entire RPM range. Most importantly Mike has customer service that can’t be beat. Here is Mike’s information if you’re interested:

Mike may even be able to tell you if you cab is pre-wired for electric seats as well as some of the factory techs form Ford that frequent these forms.
Good luck in your new adventure with Ford and always great having a new member…
