Hey 1depd, You're wrong about the unemployment rate. I posted the numbers for you to see. It went UP a tenth of a point.. We did gain some jobs last month, like you said, but not enough to lower Unemployment.

My point is about the First Responders, We ARE paying Taxes to beef up the police and Emergency Responders. We've spent Billions of dollars on "homeland Defense". The money's Somewhere other than your or My Wallets. Yet we're laying off.

Hmmmm .... no more attacks on US soil, I'd say it has been very successfull.

Let me highlight some key words:
LONDON — Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, al Qaeda's purported operations chief, has told U.S. interrogators that the group had been planning attacks on the Library Tower in Los Angeles and the Sears Tower in Chicago on the heels of the September 11, 2001, terror strikes.
Those plans were aborted mainly because of the decisive U.S. response to the New York and Washington attacks, which disrupted the terrorist organization's plans so thoroughly that it could not proceed, according to transcripts of his conversations with interrogators.

...If 10 soldiers getting mudered today is your definition of "VERY" good then God bless your soul and our troops.
Then you must think WWII was a complete failure.

...Gee it looks like the unemployment rate really took off last month. What did it go up to? Oh! It went down 308,000 jobs. Gee if it continues to go down like tihs every month until the end of the year it sounds like over 3,000,000 new employees this year. Wow imagine that everyone gets their jobs back.
Well I've been seeing many articles with jobs are getting added each month.

File that one under entitlement programs or politicians buying votes, whichever you prefer to call it.

Funny stuff. If you think things will magically get better if Kerry takes office, think again. We have been in a recession since August 2000 according to the leading economic indicators. Guess who was President. Klintoon. If you refuse to open your eyes and see the truth, that's your problem.

"The NBER's Business Cycle Dating Committee has determined that a peak in business activity occurred in the U.S. economy in March 2001," the panel said in its announcement. "A peak marks the end of an expansion and the beginning of a recession."

March 2001!!

We've been down this road before. At least Know when the recession officially started.... There's the Truth...

The truth is no matter who is in office what ever “policies” have been put into place, hence “tax hikes” by Clinton they take time before they actually take affect. Thus it was still the Clinton recession and that is the truth. The truth hurts at times but nonetheless it is the truth.

Bill Clinton is responsible for the recession that President Bush was able to pull us out of through his initial policies of tax cuts because like has been proven time and time again tax cuts do indeed create jobs and grow the economy and thus put MORE money into the federal coffers…

WE lose more US citizens in New York City due to violence everyday than we lose in Iraq. I think we should pull out of NY City! If the rich get more money, do they stuff it under their bed? or do they invest and create jobs? Meanwhile, I have chosen to improve my lot in life and not whine or blame the government.

BHibbs-- you are correct I failed to read the jobs lost stat and there were more jobs lost than created.

I don't know when the recession started but i'll tell ya my stocks started droping Dec 2000 and did not stop until recently. So my investments suffered under Clintoon and thrived under Bush.
