Easy, 3 X 7 logs = 21 logs. Just dont ask me how many board feet are in a log, cause I aint no good at math.

Sled...

y=log_b (x) :: b^y=x

I dont know how they got those answers either.

Your calculator's log function doesnt work because it only uses base 2.

OK - I know nothing about math, but sometimes ignorance is helpful.
Then again, maybe not. But looking at your insert I see what looks like
log 7 to the fifth power + log 7 to the third power + log 7 to the fourth power.
So I went to google, entered "scientific calculator"....pressed 7, log, y to the x,
5, and = and repeated for each and came up with
0.431+0.6036+0.51 = 1.5446.
Am I even close? I have no idea what I did.

Hoping that even if I'm wrong, my telling you what I did (whatever it was) might trigger something in the way of insight or an idea.

If not, I've just embarassed myself beyond belief.

i can help ya..here goes your crash course in math first of all...whenever you have log(x * y) it can be transformed into
log(x)+log(y)....just like division log(x/y) can be transformed into
log(x)-log(y)...there logrithmic transformations.

now the reason your calculator doesnt work correctly is a calculator computes a log function at base 10. therefore to make it calculate a number in a different base you take the log of the number divided by the log of the base your looking for...therefore in your problem

log_7(5*3*4) = log(5)/log(7) + log(3)/log(7) + log(4)/log(7)
= 2.10

hope i helped you out
