Wouldn't want to send the wrong message
Okay, sing with me "Blame Canada! Blame Canada! "
see here "If you have that kind of presence symbolized by (a stab-proof vest), you're sending a signal to the prisoner that you consider him to be a dangerous person," What a joke... runnert |
Kevin Grabowsky, of the Union of Canadian Correctional Officers, said the notion that inmates might be "offended" is a "complete crock." They also have a form of gun control up there to dont they? That be bullsheet when they worry more about the damn criminal than the the guards or the victims. Canada = Liberal thinking. Maybe they shouldnt lock them down either, makes them feel clostriphobic. |
"If you have that kind of presence symbolized by (a stab-proof vest), you're sending a signal to the prisoner that you consider him to be a dangerous person," said Tim Krause. Oh and... what if the prisoners offend me for being in jail? Should we release them, then? |
Wouldn't want to send the wrong message Oh, and screw that Canadian PC Prison idea. They are criminals, and dangerous ones, or they wouldn't be there. |
People, people please....
Alll these Americans posting about the Canadian prison system. You can't apply conditions that exist here in the US to our neighbors in the North. Here, we have the Proctective Vest Act of 2000. The Federal Govt has a 50/50 Grant for all law enforcement agencies, including prisons/jailers etc, for the procurement of protective vests. This program runs through 2007 and will probably be renewed unless something better comes along. This equipment is very expensive and not only does our Fed govt encourage it, it pays for half of it for anybody (agency) that applies. How can I best explain the Canadian prison system? Does anybody remember the Andy Griffith Show? What would you have thought if you tuned in with Andy and Barney wearing protective vests while Otis was in the cell sleeping one off? |
Nice find runnert.
I was getting to the point of forgetting just how out of touch my old employer was, until reading that article. Ottawa has spent millions and millions developing a Mission Statement, Core Values, and Guiding Principles. They feel a more loving approach is what's needed. Care and nurture, and spend quality time with the "offenders". (referring to them as inmates or convicts is strictly forbidden, it might scar them emotionally) Talk to them, be their friend, build a relationship. Unfortunately, our "policy makers" are a bunch of retards who have never set foot in a maximum security penitentiary, and have no idea how the real world operates. Until these people leave their warm cozy nests in Ottawa's NHQ, and actually walk through a joint when they are smashing, burning, and killing each other, they will never have a true sense of reality. If there are any NHQ employees reading this, I have a message: As the Newfies like to say... "Kiss me arse" I'm retired!! |
Of course, I only told half the story.
The Canadian system of incarceration has dangerous and disturbed individuals that would scare the bee-juvas out of you... (...and that's just the guards!) |

Just another example to support my theory of the higher the position, the stupider the person
It's a real shame that few lives will have to be lost to overturn this gem of an idea. |
