Like Raoul, I was a lurker in the late 1998 period and finally signed up when I got my 99 Lightning in May of '99.

I have no idea how many posts got deleted in the first system change but it was probably a lot. In my case, the posts start again in July 1999.

While I have never considered myself a post *****, it is interesting to remember that there have been several changes on this board that have whacked the heck out of individual post counts. I think mine currently is around 1300 and I think I remember being around the 3000 mark at one time. Due to one or more server changes, a lot of those post counts got lost and then I sold the Lightning and stopped posting there and then the post count was deleted for those of us who post here on the GD forum. Not complaining, just observing.

Sometimes I wonder if we could have a counter for "lurkers".
While I post rather little any more, I am an observer on this site like stink on a skunk, probably 10 times a day at least. One of the small advantages of owning my own business.

One other comment, Raoul, it saddens me to scroll though those old posts and see how many of the 1998/1999 crew are no longer here. I don't think it is because of the site itself, probably they went on to other things but it was a lot of fun in those days.

Today, it is a bit more "testy" but I suppose when you move from 2000 members to over 50000 that is bound to happen. Not all bad in balance, I guess.

I am new to this. I have a 01 F150 sport flareside, silver. First I have always had my trucks detailed by various detailers. Needless to say I am very picky and tired of paying over $100 only to find wax on the plastic after the first wash etc. I have always been just a bit afraid to do it myself so as to not do something that might cause damage to the paint. After doing some research on detailing the dos/donts I have decided I want to do it on my own.

I have read many great reviews about Zaino products from this forum as well as many other forums. To you pros out there these may seem like dumb questions, but I aint taken no chances (lol)

I am planing on purchasing the Z1 (Polish Lok), Z2 (Polish for clearcoat), Z6 (Gloss Enhancer), Z7 (Car wash), and Z18 (claybar) ($56.75 +ship)

So here goes:
1. When using a clay bar I do know you must lube while your working it, but just how should one do it? back and forth? circles? light or moderate pressure while doing so? How long should you spend in one area?

2. I have the 10 spoke alu rims which have clearcoat on them. Should I use the Zaino on them? if so, is the application the same as for the paint itself?

3. I have heard before that you shouldnt wax in the direct sunlight, but some reviews have led me to believe that you can with Zaino. Is this true?

Thanks for you help with my questions and if you can think of any other pointers you can give me then fire away.

Yes Joe, he is serious about that. I decided to see if that is what he really had posted and that is what it was.

This thread is pretty interesting learning about the history of the site, a guy I used to work with for about 7 years joined in 1999, but he only has about 1000 posts, he does not post often.
