1000 hp Viper vs Hayabusa (video)
1000 hp Viper vs Hayabusa (video)
I know this isn't an L post, but it could represent vehicles that we could run into on the street or strip. Anyway, last weekend, a group of guys went out and raced an 886 rwhp Supercharged Viper against a few stock and not-so-stock Busas (and a ZX12). The first stock Busa was not tuned properly, so it could've been a little faster. (For those unfamiliar with the Hayabusa, it's the fastest production sport bike, made since 1999...before limiters were added, it went 195 mph). Anyway, it's a big video file, lasts 20 minutes, but it's worth watching...Just remember that the last two bikes, which totally destroy the Viper, are not turbocharged...

Very cool. I do wonder how he's able to use second gear on up, flooring it and not spinning the tires with that much power. My last ProCharged car made over 800 rwhp and would annihilate the tires at any speed or rpm under fourth (1:1) gear. That was with drag radials too.

The Viper last dynoed at 863hp at the wheels (he had put cats back on since it last dynoed at 883)...I frequent the 'Busa boards also since I own one and those guys have been trying to line up a 'Busa vs. Supra/Viper and they finally did. The last 'Busa and the ZX12 were both big bores and the 'Busa had spray but I can't remember if Nick used it...
Suffice it to say that if you come across a Hayabusa on the street you should just save the gas.

You ain't kiddin! I just don't get the traction thing. Maybe he doesn't make a lot of torque with that setup, 'cause he shouldn't be able to floor it with that amount of power and those tires.

Thanks Cpeapea! Actually I'm down to just the Lightning and the twin-turbo project right now. I do have a serious car-building bug though!
I'm self-employed.

As the owner of both a 2002 Lightning and a 2002 Hayabusa, I can tell you: there are very few things on four wheels that will run with my bike. I ran a Viper (stock for stock) right after I got the bike...I don't think he will EVER try to race a motorcycle again!
If only I had a 2002 McLaren F1, I could have the trifecta of Guiness vehicles that year. Maybe after my first million.
