Oh No, not another Nitrous powered Toy (AND MAJOR FLASH BACK)

I'm not too proud of my Drug induced childhood, a matter of fact I truly don't remember a good 15 years of my Life, I truly threw it away BIG TIME. But thats not what this is about. But with that in mind, once a long long time ago, I lost my most prized possession in lets say, "a deal gone bad" I had my life in this toy, and it was gone in the blink of an eye, (not easy to explain to the parents at the time, but thats another story, heheheh)

Something happen today that gave me the ULTIMATE FLASH BACK, and also brought back some great Memory's, and closure to that possession.

Remember how I told you all how I was using nitrous Decades ago, well while me and V were talking on the phone today, a couple of my childhood buddies, (who I haven't seen for years) show up at my house WITH MY OLD KAWI in their Van.
Of course it's a basket case, been sitting and rusting for 15 years,
but here it is many years later, (now a basket case) a good racer friend of mine, (the guy that came today) ended up with it and religiously turned it over, got it started a few times over the yrs, and unfortunatly stripped all the good stuff off it.

Handed me the keys, title and bike and said here, you dump it,
it's still yours legally. I look at the title and don't you know, the SOB is still in my name all these years later..........

Don't get me wrong, I got a few good years out of it, before
trading it for my life
"YIKES" but seeing it again brought back some wild memories, good and bad..........

And for those of you with good eye's
YES IT HAS NITROUS ON IT I was even crazier back then
@ 19/20 yrs old

At the time, this was basically king of the Mid Size Monsters.
The offered 3 diff Kawi 650's that year, the std mod, the KZ, and this the SR Street Racer, it had won 24 hour indurance that yr, fastest, best handling, bla bla bla

Of course that wasn't enough for me, so I bored it out to 826CC's, put 10.25 to 1 Weisco Pistons in it, a nice set of cams, headers, racing carbs (those are gone, now it's got the stock B/S on it) A little spocket re-gearing, some serious street tires, better coils (one missing now) oil cooler, velocity stacks, a Stewart Warner 12 Volt CAR electric fuel pump in it, AND HUGE FUEL AND NITUOS JETS, hehehehehehe.

They didn't offer Nitrous back then for a Bike, so I had a Company in California, (10 thousand RPM's I think it was called) make it up especially for me, we mic'd the intake ports, and had them build me a manifold, and send along a couple of solenoids (WET SYSTEM)

It was quite the beast in it's time

NOW IT'S A BASKET CASE

What a shame the SOB still only has 8,500 miles on it

I don't think I have the patience to rebuild it, everything needs to be gone over. It needs a master cylinder, new brake and clutch
"complete control and lever assy's", (there's dangling there, but I dont think they're usable), a coil, and new exhuast donuts, if the bolts aren't rusted beyond fixing.

Just what I need a 500lb POS that needs total rebuilding, and is miles behind in technology, I think I'll just take in the memory's and dump it somewhere............

Thats the truth, the whole truth, and I'm sticking to it.........

From: Colorado,
Let it go Rob. Let it go.

It is a rekindled flame but for your family's sake and your CC sake give it away.

You said it your self

"Be here now."

Those guys did you no favors by dropping it off.
I feel your pain but you can never go back.
The longer it sits around the harder it will be.

About 7 or 8 years ago, I traded in a Dakota (I know:o ). Nothing too spectacular, but I had done a lot of work to it thru the end of high school, and college. I had a ton of great memories with it.

Not even 2 years ago, it pulled up next to me at a light while I was in my L. I rolled down the window, and the kid was drooling at my L. We pulled over, and I told him that it was def. my old truck (pretty unmistakeable). He swapped out the V-6 for a 5.9, and showed up at my house from time to time to show me new stuff that he had done to "my" truck. It was the only vehicle I ever wished I never got rid of. Told him that if he ever wanted to get rid of it to see me first.

Imagine my surprise when about two months ago, I look out the window of my shop, and there's the kid... not in the dodge, but in a sonic blue L!

Smart move. However, he insists on keeping "my" truck.

with no rear shocks, it's not a comfortable "or nice handling
thing to do", never mind your kidneys getting shaked, rattled,
and rolled.

What I got back yesterday is my old 650 (bored to 826)

The story I told above about getting pulled over with the wheelie bars (in a differant post) was driving my Proto Type 900 Z-1 (punched to 1015)

I've also owned the Proto Type Kawi Z-1R 1000
Two Honda 750 SS's and a Hawk
(and of course lots of dirt bikes)

Here's the 650 when it was new

Here's the Multi Color Custom Paint 900 Z-1 punched to 1015CC
(no wheelie bars in this picture, sorry....)

And Yes I once had hair, and I was skinny
