Wife and I were at NMRA Bradenton this weekend. Thursday night during test and tune watched a new GTO run 11.61 in the quarter mile. Don't know what he had done to it, but he was definitely still running factory exhaust. Just thought some of you might find this interesting.

On the way home today I spanked my first SRT...Pulling out of the toll-booth eastbound on the alley I heard someone coming out strong to my right. I instinctively dropped the hammer and proceeded to destroy some poor sucker in his yellow SRT-4:o

Wish it could have been an SRT-10 kill story...Haven't run into one of those yet.

 

It was only a matter of time. There's already a huge amount of go fast goodies for the LS1 engine out there. I bet he had traction issues and still ran that time. There's not a lot of room in the wheel wells for wide tires on the GTO. It's going to be hard to make a choice when new car time rolls around again. There is just so much out there right now. And more coming down the pike.

i have heard of a 2004 GTO at e town on slicks

ran a 13.4

i have a friend with one he has a 75 shot of nitrous and he can run 12.99 on slicks most of the time he runs 13 plus


some times we forget a couple seconds if we dont have the time slip

 

arent there two versions of the GTO now? One with ballz, and one without?

I was parked on the grass at the finish line that night sitting behind the truck in my lounger. Drinking ice cold bottled water enjoying the races when the track announcer said..."and here's Joe Blow with his new 04 GTO thats been out here alot lately bla, bla, bla... I watched him come through the traps and light up the timer board. I was totally blown away by his time!!! so much so that I called my bow-tie buddy back home and told him what I had just witnessed. I have since confirmed that call with him and your right. I did have the time wrong on my first post. Turns out the time I quoted him was 11.86 . Still pretty impressive if you ask me

 

I dont know about your truck, but mine is an auto and it definitely has some.

I forget what the stats were, but I think they are going to make a higher HP version in a few years.

 

Probably the new LS2 6.0 that will be in the new Vette. 400+ hp!

 

heard the new GTO's run mid 13's stock and i've seen them tested at that too..........unless they changed the engine into some enormous powerplant i dont think he was too stock.

Yea, it had to have been modded up for sure... Hell, 13's are fast!!
