how many guitar players out there?

how long have you been playing and what axes do you have?

I got my first guitar when I was 14 so that's about 32 years.

Hohner acoustic bought new in 1978

Ibanez electric. Blonde 24 fret one piece neck through body aprox. 1975

Ibanez bass (Fender precision jazz copy) aprox. 1977

Session Stage Series piece of crap Strat copy. No idea how old it is. Taken in trade from someone who owed me money.

Gibson Firebird 1995 reissue (my baby)

Right here!

My grandpa got me started when i was in third grade cause he had some old guitars that he used whenever he played with Hank Williams Sr.'s band. Ive got a Bentley acoustic, another black acoustic signed by Joe Nichols, and a 60's model Conrad electric (cheap)
Ive been playing since third grade but i dont really know any songs, just pick a little country/bluegrass every now and then. I also play clarinet/bass clarinet in college and was in the Missouri All-State band.....another hobby besides sports.

Used to play electric guitar when in high school in a rock band played a lot of school dances at our own school and surrounding schools. Then another rock band after that while stationed on the U.S.S. Midway in Yokosuka Japan. We got to play a lot in some clubs in Tokyo Japan and that was a blast.

In the last rock band I was in we did all original music written by us. I used mostly Ibanez guitars also use to own a Gibson Les Paul. Played about a total of 15 years or so. Loved it when I did…

I've played since I was about five. I can play and sing just about all the Lynard Skynard and Eagle's songs, and some Merle Haggard, Hank Jr. songs. I don't play alot of hard rock heavy metal but I can play almost anything country, bluegrass, classic rock. I've got an old Fender acoustic guitar. Not sure what model, but I got it at a pawn shop. It sounds decent, but nothing like my Dad's Ovation watermelon back flat top acoustic with a built in tuner. I just play off and on now. I wish I had more time to learn new songs and practice.

I remember when I was playing some copies (other people’s music) I loved AC/DC. Learned one song and the rest were easy…

Played a lot of Journey, Boston, Van Halen, Ozzy (with Randy Roads) Motley Cure and some others when in high school…

I have been playing since I was about 4 years old, I switched over from the piano because I thought the guitar was cooler. I have only owned two guitars that I don't still have, so I have a bunch. I have a 75 Martin student accoustic (I learned to play on this), a 73 Martin D3 accoustic, a 62 SG, a 69 Firebird, an Ovation accoustic, a Montana 12 string, a Washburn 12 string, a red and white Fender Strat, a black and white strat, a solid black strat, a goldtop Les Paul, a sunburst Les Paul, an Alvarez accoustic, a pink (I don't know, but at least I don't watch Oprah) Wasburn Chicago Series electric, a Schecter Diamond Series 7 string, a Jackson Dinky solidbody electric, a Jackson RR5 in the classic `tuxedo` Randy Rhoads colors, and I just got a Hamer Explorer in sunburst. My favorite is my SG, I rarely play the others, I don't like tremolos, so I don't play the strats hardly at all. Just the way I learned to play, I guess, I learned to play on my Martin when I was a really little kid, so a solid stopbar tailpiece is what I prefer on electrics. I have a couple of more guitars that I don't play, one is a 52 Silvertone electric, and the other is a 59 Silvertone semi-hollow body, but they aren't even in playable condition, yet.

I've been playing about 7 years. I still play my cheap Yamaha F-310. I've beaten the hell out of that thing but it still sounds ok. I like playing my friend's Taylor or my dad's old classical when i get a chance.

Wow 01, f150's and guitars! Woohoo

Pickup man, I'm totally jealous
I'm missing two of my guitars, also. My very first one I gave to my niece and An electric I had went to my nephew.
I'm a blues junkie along with classic rock, a healthy dose of Bob Dylan, The Band, Ry Cooder, Jimmy Thackery/Nighthawks, etc.

From: Cary, NC -- Originally Melbourne, Australia
I started playing when I was 10 years old...played a 3/4 size classical acoustic (nylon strings). I played that until I outgrew it.

When I turned 13 I talked my dad into buying me an electric guitar and amp. He got me a cheap and nasty Canora Les Paul imitation (incase I changed my mind about this guitar playing stuff...he didn't want to spend too much to have me abandon it). I took lessons using that guitar for five years, mostly studying modern lead and rhythm. I also got to use my teacher's Fender Strat and Telecaster during lessons. I worked the crap out of my guitar over the years. All this was back in Australia.

When I moved here I sold the guitar and amp along with a lot of other stuff...kept all my effects pedals though. After a couple of years I couldn't take being without a guitar any more, so I decided to finally buy something decent (in my opinion). I bought a Marshall AVT20 which is surprisingly capable and plenty loud enough for the townhouse I live in. Along with it I bought an Ibanez JS1000BP, which I've been very impressed with.

Cheers.

Took lessons for three years when I was a kid, but lost interest. I started playing a little when I found my girlfriend's acoustic. I've been strumming off and on ever since. I know have a Fender Strat Plus and a Martin D-1.
