I was surfing ebay, and bam, I found a cheap 8.8 LS that will probably fit my truck.

What does the 31 spline mean? Will this fit my truck or not?

It's how many "teeth" are on the ends of your axles. You need to search, and see if you can find out what axles are in your truck. Or just bid, if you win, and can't use it, put it back on ebay if you want it that bad...

 

Where would I find that information?

My truck has the 8.8 rear end, plus I'm picking up a set of 3.73 from a buddy of mine.
