Anyone seen the SSR in person yet?

I saw on this morning on my way to work. It was a purple color. It was sitting in an Autozone parking lot when I saw it and I think the thing is ugly, and I mean ugly. Not because it is a Chevy, it would be ugly no matter who made it.

I guess I just have not caught on to this new styling that automakers are going to. I like the 04 F150's but all these other vehicles just do not do anything for me.

I have seen several around Metro Detroit. I think they look cool, but boy are they a rip off.

Yep it’s ugly alright…

I too have seen the new 04’s and the first thing that comes to my mind is why they only let the people in the clay room have 15 minutes to design the exterior…

Seen lots of them here. There's even a couple of rental places that rent them. (There's a rental company down the street that rents everything from Mercedes to Ferraris to Lamborghini Diablos. They had two at their office yesterday, both red.
Personally, I think they are kind of cool looking, but I hear they have zip under the hood.

Yeah, I was driving around in the Home Depot's parking lot and I saw one driving out. It was black so it looked ok. But I still think they are pointless.

I was a little shocked to see one so soon. Still waiting on the SRT-10 or GT

I like them. But I wouldn't pay more than 35 K for one. I like the power retractable top.

I don't know guys... I kinda like it. The sticker is outrageous but, I'm always a sucker for a newer, fresher looking vehicle. I think the SSR fills both of those tickets....

It's definately unique.

I like 'em, too; but, for 45K, it should have at least 400hp and 400+ ft/lbs. of torque. Especially at 4600+ lbs.

I've seen one in a Chevy dealership, and I like it. The vehicle was bright red, and listed for $43,000...plus a $10, 000 dealer markup. I actually laughed out loud when I saw that. Dealer dude didn't like that one bit. I told him that they were going to **** buyers off just like Chrysler did with the PT Cruiser.

As far as I'm concerned, at $43,000, it's very overpriced. First thing it needs is some sort of running boards to make it look lower, then a decent HP engine. I like the styling, but then I'm old enough to recall the front ends of the old 50's Chev PUs.

At that price, it's another marketing boondoggle that will end up the same way as the Ford Thunderbird revival: discontinued after a few yrs.

Aftermarket nerf bars, maybe?

Saw and sat in one today at the dealer...
I've got to say that it's very cool.
(although GodAwful purple/blueish colour...)

Dealer started it up in the show room...
Sounds awesome...
It sounds like what the Lightning SHOULD have sounded like but doesn't unless you slap a magnaflow or basanni on it.
Sounds really really good.

Dealer also retracted the auto top...
Very cool.

Interior is spartan, but nice.

Lift the back cover and there was something similiar to a bed rug with the ssr logo embroidered, and it even had high gloss wood strips running the length...

All in all it was quite impressive...

List price...45K and change...
10 thousand markup (snicker snicker...laugh out loud)

Guy at dealership said they plan on making it only for a few years...

I don't know...thinking about getting one simply for the fun factor....

Let the flaming begin...

My Lightning sounds awesome right from the factory. Not too loud, not too quiet.

I've had two Lightnings (2000 and 2002) and they sound nothing like this.

Don't get me wrong...love the L, but the SSR is quite unique....

Fun and nothing else.
