6 years and counting

I was told 6+ years ago that i had kidney disease (IGA) . Anyway i had an medical specialist update as of yesterday and i am told my kidneys are at 20-25% function and i may have to go on dyalisis soon. With all the advances in medicine you would think someone some where ... Oh well you play the cards your dealt i guess. Now i can only eat SOME things; you know like an old rag or some paper or maybe chew on picture of a porterhouse steak . I thought nam and or smoking would kill me but no it was an infection from the flu long ago maybe in my teens i am told by the Doc. Go figure.

Don't lose hope. They are coming out with new stuff in medicine all the time. At 3:30 a.m. I'm not too profound but I'll send you some prayers.

Keep the faith man. I know it's really frustrating when we can put a rover on mars, but can't cure a disease.

I wouldn't say it's all that "common", but certainly not unheard of. My GF has had numerous kidney infections that she's been hospitalized for in recent years, so her docs are keeping an extra close eye on her lately. Especially since she's pregnant. So far, so good.

Just hang in there man. Every day is a new day and you never know what good things are gonna happen.

Guess my sqeaking fan complaint in a different thread seems stupid now. Somtimes I dont realize how lucky I really have it.

I hope everything turns out for you and even though this may not mean much I will say a prayer for you. I just lost a friend to cancer
after he battled for years with it.

Hiya buddy,

I hope you get your medical problems sorted out.
I wish everything turns out for the best because I know first hand how these things can mess with your head.

My medical problems have been serious since Jan 1, but they are getting better.
Like my good old dad used to say (RIP)
"Every day above ground is a good day"

I don't know much about this kidney stuff, but any chance a healthier diet can help? (pardon my ignorance)

I know my recent gall stones have complicated things, and as a result I have cut out all greasy / crap food, and prepare everything myself.
Mostly grilled vegetables sauted in frying pan with a little "PAM", and then I'll add 3-4 ounces of chikcen breast, and stir fry it up with garlic, different spices and seasonings.

Ever since I cut out all the crap from my diet, I havnt had one single attack (Knock on wood)

I've also cut out all sugar, caffine, anything processed.
It's making a biog difference for me, and I hope there is something that can help your physical problems diet wise.

You are in my thoughts buddy and I hope you get better.

Habibi

Thanks everyone. Habibi, yes i have been on a restricted diet since they did a kidney biopsy 6 years ago. 1/4 pound of meat per day and no salt, no ketcup, mustard, potassium is a no no and that leaves me little to eat. I am grateful for each day i am here (above ground). : I just finished building my own home in the country right next to my 3/4 acre pond (i will post some pics), nothing big but nice and its paid for so i guess i will just have to relax and take it as it comes.

Man am i hungry:drool
