2005 Mustang Spied in Flowery Branch GA!

Talk about a surprise! Pulling out of my subdivsion this morning and what do I see? Two 2005 Mustangs drving by. The lead car was get this, a 2004 Pontiac GTO with michigan maufacturers plates, silver in color. Second car was a sonic blue Mustang, probably GT. Third car was white, what looked to be a V6 model since it had a single exhaust. But get this, it had an independent rear suspension. I'm thinking they were testing the 2006 Cobra drivetrain. I followed them through some twisties for about 4 miles and heard the second (white) car. It was definately a V6 from the sound.

The white Mustang also had dalmation-like spots all over it and was filthy. It also had the big ugly bra on the front and back ends so you couldn't see the body lines. Both Mustangs had the obligatory 'michigan manufacturers' plates. What I can't figure out is why there was a Pontiac GTO leading them. Maybe they are comparing it against the Mustangs. Anyways, kinda weird seeing this in the somewhat-boonies of Flowery Branch.

GT has a live axle. He said the GT was probably a pre-Cobra test mule for the IRS.

That would be cool if the GT had IRS, but I think that would put production costs through the roof. Oh well...

Do you think that maybe it could be a magazine doing some 'road testing'?
