Let's Talk about Diets
Anyone here on a diet or recently lost weight on a diet?
Post your experiences with what's been good, and what hasn't. My wife just started this diet at Dr. Bernstein's clinic http://www.drbdiet.com/web/hp_inde.asp and so far it's working really well. (she wants to lose 30 pounds) Now, I've been eating the same food as her, I just don't pay to go to the clinic. Once a week she goes in, gets weighed, and every other day they give her a vitamin B6 and B12 injection - this is supposed to speed up the weight loss. It costs $125 a week for the supervision, so I thought if I just eat the same foods, I will benefit from the plan also, I just won't get the injections. I am going to buy the B-12 and B-6 in pill form, and just take them orally, I think this will have close to the same results. I've packed on 35 pounds since I quit smoking, and now that the smokes are behind me, it's time to lose this fat. Today is day 4 and I cheated! I couldn't stand it anymore with this no sugar rule, my wife went to work, and I went to taco bell and got 2 regular tacos and a large dr pepper (oh the shame - I feel so guilty) I'll try to be good tomorrow. Share your experiences you fatsos! |
F diets.
Just exercise and eat smart, thats all you need. Seriously. The best part is that you can slip up every now and then and not feel guilty, just don't make a habit of it. |

I am not fat I weigh 225 and work out . There are a lot of plans out there that will work if you will follow through. The Atkin's plan will give you quick results but if you go back to your old ways you will be back where you started! As you get older some people become less active and if they eat like they did when they younger they will gain weight .Guess what , you need to wake up ! The Zone by Dr. Sears is a great plan but it is a plan for people with a commitment to a long term plan of fitness . I am 44 and still in shape , go with what ever works for YOU ! what works for me might not be for you , don't give up ! there is a plan that will work for you .

Eat in porportions and excercise reguarly is what I do. Well, not really in porportions for me, but I do walk like crazzy everyday, ride bike and a lot more other things to stay outside. Guess it just kinda depends on the person and what they like to do. I would love to hike and mountain bike all summer in Silverton Co and get in great shape. Oh and swimming, bunches of fun (especially in high elevations at first)
going to eat :lurk:  |

College is kinda like animals, you go till your hungry eat as fast as you can and go some more, and when hungry, eat. And its never at normal hours. you should see the places at 9-10-11 at night,,,,,crazzy busy with people. IHOP does some business.

Habibi, Just tape that picture of LGJ in his speedo and nipple rings to your fridge. If you can still eat after seeing that, you have much bigger problems than a few pounds. :D

Here's my input, for what it's worth.
I went on Atkins back in August and lost 17 pounds. I stopped doing Atkins around Christmas and haven't gone back to the diet, although I keep telling myself I will. I've only gained 4 pounds since I stopped the diet. I friggin can't STAND when people say "when you go off Atkins and go back to the way you used to eat, you gain all your weight back." Well DUH... when you go off ANY diet and go back to your OLD way of eating, you're gonna gain the weight back. Weight Watchers, South Beach, The Cabbage Soup Diet, any friggin diet on the planet will fail you once you fail yourself. If you do Atkins, please read the book. There is a proper way to do it and a wrong way to do it. Eating a pound of bacon and a dozen eggs for breakfast is NOT being on the Atkins diet just because you cut out the toast. You need to eat veggies as well, and DIFFERENT carbs, the GOOD carbs. Or the other thing you can do is put smaller portions of food on your plate. You won't be tempted to scarf down mass quantities of food if it's not there. Also, cut down on how much pasta, rice and potatoes you eat. Also drink less sugared sodas. I drink Diet Mountain Dew. I used to be a die-hard Mt. Dew fan, but then when I went on Atkins, I was soooo thankful for Diet Dew. Also Crystal Light makes some yummy sugar-free drinks. Sorry to ramble, but take it from me, Atkins works and it's not gonna kill you. Jenn in OH |
There is one word for diets MODERATION. Any diet that says this or that needs to be cut out or seriously reduced needs a closer look. As was eluded to in other responses it depends on you. If your a secretary or in my case a police officer and you have a tendency to sit a lot then you need to really watch what goes into your mouth or it will end up on your rear. If you are a construction worker and do a lot of physical activity in you job, then you don't have to be as careful.
Just opinion here, if you are on a diet and look at it and say I can't see myself eating like this forever, then it probably is not going to last and the weight will start going back on, unless some sort of physical activity uses up the excess calories. I also don't believe in Atkins, South Beach, cabbage soup or any other diet. Yes you will lose weight with these diets, but you will also lose weight but not eating and that's not exactly good either. I think 4-6 square meals per day with a make up of 40% carbs, 30% protien, and 30% fat is where it is at. I am however, on a rigorous work out regime and low carb leaves me without energy and I can't eat enough carbs only to satisfy my calorie needs, and obviuosly need the protien to fix the borken muscles. |
Just do the diet my buddy does. He goes to McDonalds orders 3 large fries, and 3 double quarter pounders and a large DIET Coke…

I also spend about six hours a week in the gym working out. I golf, play ball, fish and walk everywhere I can. I almost never drink pop. A person who averages I can of regular pop per day has another 15 pounds per year he/she has to keep off. The amount of phospheric acid in pop of all kinds also does a serious number on your digestive system. Beer and liquor are very good for packing on the pounds, too, so I leave them alone. My arm was in a cast all summer and I gained about ten pounds that's still hanging around. It's really pissing me off, too! I rationalize it by telling myself that all mammals gain weight for the winter. If it ain't gone by spring I just may have to adjust my eating habits a bit. Hang in there, Habibi! If you can quit smoking, anything else is duck soup! |
