sound system

I was looking on ebay for a system for my truck. I found a complete system by Legacy, which i have not heard of. It comes with a cd reciever, 1000 watt amp, and a 1200 watt 12 inch sub.
It is for sale for about $230.
Is this a good deal? Is legacy good?????

If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.

You get what you pay for.

Save your money and buy a name brand at your local best buy or circuit city. Have them in stall it. Get the serivce plan and when you blow it they'll replace it.

Typically, I put stereo equipment into three distinct categories:

-1- Professional - Used in sound off competitions and the like.
-2- Quality Consumer - This is the category I try and buy out of.
-3- Low End Consumer - This is the stuff where low price generally comes before quality.

IMO Legacy equipment falls squarely in category 3. As such, I wouldn't put too much faith in their power ratings (they're most likely way over-inflated). My opinions aside, I won't say the Legacy equipment can't serve your purposes, but don't expect too much quality out of it. And by the way, I have a 10" Kicker L5 Solobaric subwoofer in one of my vehicles that ran me $150 and is rated at 900w max. It's powered by a Kicker 400w class D sub amp, and when pushed, will vibrate the fillings in your teeth pretty good.

My recommendation, work hard and save your money until you can buy some equipment out of category 2. I think you'd be much happier with the end results.

Good luck.

I'd pass on that one. You can find some good deals on nice probucts if you look hard enough. That sounds like a $230 loss.
