'65 Mustang Question?

I know this is a Ford Truck site but maybe you can help me.....I have a '65 Ford Mustang with a 289........the water pump was leaking so I replaced it.......I put the new one on, had the radiator boiled, all that good stuff.....it all went back together great......whats weird is after I drive the car for a bit, there seems to be a little bit of play in the fan and pulley (its like it wobbles on the water pump shaft). But after the engine cools off....its all back to normal......no play and everything feels just like its supposed to....everything is torqued down to the manuf. specifications.....I even bought new bolts because I broke a few of the old ones and had to drill them out......

Does anyone know what causes this? I never grabbed the fan before with the old pump to see if it did the same thing.....so I don't know if its normal.....it doesn't sound normal? Any suggestions? thanks!

I bought a 67 mustang in 1976 for 50.00 dollars thats right 50.00 dollars. It was a 198ci 3-speed stick convertable. Man if i knew then what i know now???. Live and learn. Sold it for 300.00 to a friend who rebuilt it and sold it for 13,000.

Thanks for the link PB....thats a cool site, I've never been there before....hopefully they can help me.....

Well buckdropper, thats is a tough lesson!! My mustang has an intersting story (at least to me and my family). My dad bought it wrecked in '76.....restored it......then I was born IN the mustang in '79 on our way to the hospital.......so my mom made my dad keep the car after he sold all his other classic cars so he could give it to me......when I turned 21 he gave it to me.....

your welcome

Dude that is a cool story on the family history of your Mustang.
That site can help with anything you may need to know about the car.

I have a 65 coupe that I bought the week before we found out that my wife had Kidney cancer. even though that is no longer a problem the pain from surgery has been very hard for both of us so I have yet to really get to work on mine.

My dad had a 65 coupe hot rod when I was a kid that got sold off for scrap more or less so I am hoping to kinda recapture that car.

Good luck Stan
