Serious question, system problem f150online

I realize a serious question topic from me is an oxymoron but, whatever.

Since Steve migrated to the new server, I can no longer get emails notifying me of a response to a topic I posted on. This is only on AOL, not MSN or Bellsouth.net, for example.

As well, the site loads rather slow sometimes and going between posts takes a long time even with out attachments, pics, long posts etc.

Steve and I have explored a wide range of possibilities and I have choked my spam controls to the point where I get porno messages in 48 languages now (can't be serious for too long) and I still don't get emails from f150online.

Question is, has anyone else using AOL been having the same problem?? I am using Windows XP Home and AOL 9.0 Optimized and the problem did not exist before the server migration.

I am not complaining as I can access the site from two other providers and on DSl it is fast and efficient. It is just that AOL is my primary place to go to and it would be convenient if this site worked on that provider.

Can’t say anything to the email because I don’t use it for notifying me about post. I am using Window’s XP and am on a cable service. I have no problems with other web sites loading up fast.

I have been having problems with F150online. Sometimes it loads fast and other times going from one thread to another (no pics or attachments) and it can take some serious time. Sometimes it can take 5 – 10 seconds for a thread to load and that’s on cable…

I am sure Steve has his hands full with issues and just corrected the one with double post when they were to long so while he is working out some of the other issues I am just being patient because I love the site and the people…

Evening Burt:
First, let me say I have no issues with Steve, this is just a sort of a lets solve a mystery adventure.

I have tried every tweak I can find to diminish the spam filtering on my personal AOL system. And, as I said somewhere, it will not perform the email notification function on PCs in three distinct geographic areas when I use AOL. That is to say, home, office and laptop wherever I plug it in.

On another thread, I discussed my conversation (by email) with a lovely Phillipino lady on the AOL help line and she could not solve the problem from that end. Although, we did discuss some other issues.

To go back to my original question, can some of you who are on the latest version of AOL (9.0 Optimized) flag the email notification
box and see if it works for you. If so, then it is specific to my setup on AOL and I will have to live with it. If not, then we have something to perhaps work on with Steve.
Bill BTW, how about Dean's "speech" last night Wild, what.

Bill,

I haven't been following the chatter up in 'QUESTIONS ABOUT THE SITE' but, I have a feeling what I'm about to tell you has been explored and probably removed from the list of suspects but... here goes anyways...

User CP ---> Edit Options ---> Use EMAIL Notification by Default ---> Check the YES box

I know that was probably blatently obvious and someone already probably suggested it but, I thought I'd try to help. I'm not sure man...

I have a feeling it's within the settings on your end and probably not AOL's though. I've always had the feature disabled on my end (as I've participated in nearly every thread on the board) but, I'm not utilizing AOL as an ISP either.

Geesh... I'm useless. (*NO COMMENTS BURT, HABIBI, LGJ, ETC...*) LOL!

SORRY MAN...

Regarding the PI:

Gentlemen, your minds are in the gutter

Totally truthful, I was discussing with her the fact that my Mother was born in Manila in 1917, the daughter of a Navy Officer and his wife who were stationed there at the time. Actually, they were stationed there three times from the turn of the century up till the late 1930's. My Grandfather retired in 1935 to San Diego and my father and mother were married in 1937 when she was 20.

To add to the mystery of the story, I was born in Peking (Beijing) China in 1940 when my Dad was stationed at the American Embassy there.

As I told the lady from PI, I feel privileged to have been able to return several times to the PI as well as China over my 63 years to visit my "homelands".

As to where I sowed my own personal "wild oats", I do get down to Tijuana once in a while when I visit my Dad who lives in Oceanside CA about an hour from TJ.

Not to get gross, but the ladies of the night in TJ had the same line as in PI or Thailand etc. Me lovey lovey long time GI.

RP:

I did do what you said and it did not help.

On the other hand, Burt just gets me going on this nostalgia crap and I lose sight of what we were talking about in the first place.

Just thank your lucky stars that we did not get into the lingo of the ladies of the night any further than my teaser. Steve would really have a fit.

Can't remember your age or overseas experience, it got really pretty graphic. Eh Burt & 2Fords????

Then, of course, there was France. Very sophisticated and expensive. Belgium, where you purchased a magnum of champagne and had the company of the lady for the whole night, but in the bar and you went to your hotel/billet alone out 50 bucks.

Then Sweden, where the booze was horribly expensive but the ladies were tall, blonde and definitely out for a good time.

Geez, what was the topic of this thread again?????
