Any Bicycling enthusiasts out there?
Any Bicycling enthusiasts out there?
I'd really like to get back to some regular bicycling this year, but in addition to tuning up my Cannondale, I need to get some gear/accessories. Can anyone recommend online sources to purchase gear and/or sites that give reviews on gear/equipment?
Thanks in advance,
John
Raoul: Maybe you can cut me a deal on a sheepskin seat cover?

I used to do some moutain biking, but I havent gotten to go out in a few years (weather, minor injuries, vacations, etc). My GT just sits in the corner of my room :\
In any case, if you are looking for an online vendor, check these out:
http://www.pricepoint.com (good deals here)
http://www.speedgoat.com/
http://www.nashbar.com/ (just a link I picked up)
http://www.supergo.com/ (also some good deals)
http://www.jensonusa.com/

Johngs,
Thanks for those links. I am familiar with Nashbar.com, but haven't seen the others. I'll check them out. It's been more than a couple of years since I've ridden. I'm finally back in good enough shape to get on a bike again. I'm hoping to participate in an MS150 bike tour this year.

I'm mostly a "roadie", but here are some sites I like:
https://www20.secure-website.net/~la...ciclettaStore/
http://www.coloradocyclist.com/
http://www.loosescrews.com/index.cgi
http://roadbikereview.com/defaultcrx.aspx
http://performancebike.com
There are some cycling news and racing sites I can point you to also if you have an interest in that sort of thing.
Ride safely,

Thanks much, Serotta. I didn't specify before, but I'm a road cyclist, too (or at least trying to get back to being one). I'd welcome some cycling news/racing sites, too.

Here's a couple I use to cover the major Tours with live online coverage:
http://www.cyclingnews.com/
http://www.velonews.com/
You will have to navigate awhile to get to the live race coverage. Mostly the major Tours are the only ones getting live coverage.
Cycling News is slightly faster than Velonews, and the coverage is better IMO.

Just curious, where's Elverton, can't find it on the map. I have an old high school buddy that lives in Ephrata..

I'm not that far from Ephrata (probably about 30 mins). I used to live in Denver, PA, which is just north of Ephrata. It's a nice area.
Thanks for the additional links.

I ride too.
I have been on four of these http://www.bikevirginia.org/ but not in the last two years. This is an extremely well organized event. They are fantastic at getting civic support.
2,000 riders from 48 states.
I usually go with a couple of friends but, we are skipping this year and will be doing Gettysburg in the Fall.

I used to race mt bikes for 6 years.
Havent been able to the last couple due to college, work, and now some health issues. I dont know how it is anymore but try checking out www.mtbr.com it use to be really good for reviews and had some pretty good message boards. I hope to be able to get out some in the next year or so....I still have 2 race bikes, 3 play/jump bikes, and a road bike.
