Yeah...

I've never understood this.

Starbucks was the first place I saw this and now I am seeing it everywhere.

Someone rings up your order at the counter.....and that deserves a tip?

Can you imagine going to the grocery store and tipping the register person for ringing up your groceries?

I gues everytime you purchase something you are now expected to tip the person who rung you up at the register....

Just more of the "something for nothing" attitude that has sent this country down the tubes...

I do a lot of things on pricipal, and one of them is to let the owner know that I will no longer be patronizing his business until he gets rid of the tip jar. Not only will I no longer eat there, but I will be sure to tell all my friends not to eat there either. Soon, he will need the tip jar just to stay in business.

HOLD ON A MINUTE…

You know we could all be wrong about this tip jar thing,

Could it be people are so tired of liberals with their hands out looking for cash that these people just decided “What the hell” and thus installed “tip jars”?

It is just unbelievable that some people in society for some stupid reason believe others should “freely” give a way their money to some moron with out a clue who has done NOTHING to deserve a tip, a kick in the *** perhaps, buy no tippy…

I agree with Raoul. Nobody is forcing you to put a tip in the jar/glass/bucket/spittoon etc. I just smile, make appropriate small talk, and ignore the tip accumulator. Nobody spits in my food because I don't add to the suggested tip kitty. Treat people nice and with respect, take your food, pay for it, and leave nothing but your tire tracks in the parking lot.

if you make 2.13 an hour.....waiter/waitress ..you get tips 15%-20% of the bill. and more if you were very attentive and helpful etc. etc.

now....... a barber/hairdresser, taxi-cab driver, sky-cap, doorman, bartender all make a wage that is not dependant on tips yet we all tip them.......because the personal service and TRADITION..........

so.....they ring you up??? .. that deserves a tip?........ the employees at places that stick that tip jar out like convienent stores, pizza shops, sandwich shops, hard working starbucks employees who have to make my 4 dollar coffee each morning....I mean sure thats real work/service that should be included in traditional service tipping

I do not put money in these tip jars.

give me a break.........Soon we will be expected to tip for every fricken thing we do or buy

Just ring me up you shameless leech and start worrying about the IRS checking on who you allocate the money in the tip jar to because we all know a Tip Jar is reportable employee income............

TIP JARS !!!!?????

I thought those were like the "need a penny take a penny or leave a penny" trays. After awhile when that started , you would see nickels , dimes and sometimes quarters. I thought that they just adjusted for inflation.

That would explain a lot , like , why my pizza parlor hangs up on me. And that guy at the sandwich shop who yelled "What the f--- ,are you stupid " when I was short a dollar. It caused me to quit going to places because I thought they started hiring rude people for that real "New York" experience.

I better wear my glasses next time, if they let in the front door.
