Tricky traffic rule question
O1 XLT, that's right, I remember now. In drivers education we were trained to keep the wheels straight in case someone hit you from behind.
The problem is people will time the light and shoot through the intersection when it turns green, or try and make it through on the last second of yellow. It may be legal, but not always safe.
On the otherhand, if you are the first car, and you don't get through on the yellow then things will back up behind you and drivers will start to take risks to get through the intersection on the green.

The one thing I always remember and took with me from driver’s education to the way I drive on the road and even when I do race at the track was one simple sentence the teacher told us:
”Always look ahead in traffic, and always plan of the worst possible thing that can happen and have a way out of it.”
”Always look ahead in traffic, and always plan of the worst possible thing that can happen and have a way out of it.”

Not sure about New Hampshire where I am at now, but when I lived in California it is legal and it was taught in drivers education. They taught you to, while the light is green, to pull out into the intersection and keep your wheels STRAIGHT in case you got rear-ended you did not get pushed into the path of oncoming traffic.

But I will say in many places around me, if you do not sit in the middle of the road and make your left turn when the light goes red, YOU WILL NEVER GET A CHANCE TO GO.
Nothing is more annoying than the idiot in front of you that sits there for 5 lights because he/she is too stupid to pull into the intersection.
