Part time with benefits???

What companies allow benefits to there part time employees? My sister-in-law is losing her part time benefits at Target this month. She needs insurance and will be looking for a job. She does not drive and can only work 20-30 hours per week. Any suggestions?

She can look into working for the county government. Hennepin County (Minneapolis, MN) requires just 30 hour per week to qualify for full health and dental coverage. It's also nearly impossible to fire anyone that works for the government so it's quite stable.

Nearly impossible?? depends on the supervisors and what kind of job you have really, but overall I'd say it is more stable then the private sector for sure. As long as you do your job, you will never have to worry about being let go, they will transfer you even if a location has to be closed, this is for federal jobs, not sure about state.

We get rid of our dead wood around here in the DoD though, can't afford to have lack of performance when it comes to defense.

But yeah, gov't jobs do have good benefits, but sometimes it's hard to get one, but there are websites you can apply. Just type in federal or state jobs in a search engine and you should get a page for online applications. Here's a descent site for federal jobs.

Good luck.
