My brother-in-law was just complaining about that. He has a Dell computer and needed tech help. He had a little trouble understanding the guy on the phone and asked "Where are you?"
The answer was, "Oh, I am in India."

Welcome to the future of customer NON-support ... Have a problem we will now send you to the other side of the earth and let you talk with someone you WILL NEVER be able to communicate ....
HP, Dell, ... Who else???
I was at my parents lake house on Labor Day weekend and my father called HP ... I never laughed so hard in my life.

I called Dell tech support about a year ago, I waited for about 30 min while the support dude looked and looked for something to fix it, then as I sat there, I thought about it, then thought of a few possible solutions, and the first one was right!
I hit Shift R, and it was fixed. (whenever the comp was turned on, all it could do was type R's, I guess it was the Honda influence)

I tried to call dell the other day because something with my network didnt work. I sat on the phone for 4 hours and finally decited to hang up and email them....
Trending Topics
this topic hits real close to home for me.
there is something interesting about dell in this article that i did not see. fairly recently i read an article where they were moving their corporate pc support back to the states.
their client feedback was so negative (language barriers & the fact that when they could understand what was being said, that the info was just being read to them from a help screen) that dell decided to bring that part of the business back. if i recall properly thats a big part of their business.
my company has opened a small branch there also, and of course they want it all kept hush-hush. i'm sure if we opened a new branch in the states they would have played it up to all our clients.
we also have had the same complaints from out clients.
i have seen pictures of the office we are using there and the building itself is nice eye candy. just outside the building however, are people living in tents made out of clothes & are sleeping on the dirt ground. they have no public sewer system and the area looks like crap. nothing like relying on a third world country as your 'go to people'.
the salary difference between here and there is amazing.
i could see how this could look attractive to a ceo, just by looking at the numbers, but overall this will hurt our economy, and i think it will also trickle down to the 'dumbing up' of america.
i hope this will be a relatvely short lived phase and this process will slow to a trickle.
