DVD players are not created equal

I never knew this until now, but I thought all DVD players would give the same picture quality (more or less)

I found out tonight this is NOT the case.

Next to my computer, I have a X box connected to a 27 inch television, well, I use the Xbox for movies only as I haven't played a game in 2 tears.

The last few months I notice the Xbox starting to freeze when watching a movie, this has been happening more and more frequently.
Last week we got a free DAYTEK DVD player with our new cell phones.
It was a promo they had going on.

The DAYTEK is a cheapo DVD player, probably sells for 50 bucks.

Anyway, tonight I unhooked the Xbox, and hooked up the Daytek.
The picture quality sucks ***!
The TV looks so much darker now, and not quite as clear.

I thought all DVD players would provide the same quality of picture, the only difference I guessed would be features like bells and whistles, but now I know this is not the case.

I need to get the Xbox fixed!

The reason I'm telling you guys this is don't buy the cheapest one you can find, you will be disappointed.
Spend a little more and get something better.

If this was not a freebie, I would've never got it, but I have to say the picture quality really sucks.

I got a playstation 2 that the dvd player went bad in. I got one of those apex dvd players and it doesn't play dvd's period. It will only play svcd and vcd formats. Which is really weird considering it is called a dvd player. Dvd players are like anything else. You get what you pay for.

Yeah, they are not all created equal. Everytime someone asks questions about DVD players at work, I always try to steer them towards the more expensive ones that we carry. Not so much for the extra sales, but because the APEX brand that is only $43 are not the best in the world. I have had a bunch of people come back and say that theirs went out in about 6 months or so. I always explain the differences, but most people I talk to don't have a clue what I am talking about. They just want the cheapest one available, which is the reason everyone flocked to Walmart the day after Thanksgiving for the DVD player that was only $29 which was an APEX. Get a Pioneer or Panasonic or one of those brands if you want quality but without the price.

Get a Panasonic S35. It is an amazing player. You can continue right into the middle of a movie even if you have taken the disc out.

It also fixes the Chroma Bug found in many dvd players.

I have a Sony 300+1 DVD juke box. This thing is fantastic. You can sort by rating, type of movie, block movies from the kids, and the best part is, I don't have to have a place for all my DVD cases. I keep them all in a box in the basement.

That's cool, I remember years ago when "FISHER" came out with somethinbg like that for CD's.

I'm going to look into that, would be cool to have your entire collection ready to play anytime you want.
