Gasprices
Crude oil is paid for in dollars.
The minute the dollar is going up, next day gasprices go up.
The euro exchange rate is very high at the moment. ($1.2169)
You would expect gasprices over here would drop fast.
Not
93 $5.155/US Gallon, Cdn$1.826/Litre
I was wondering what you guys and girls are paying for gas at the moment.

This is OT, but maybe some of you financial wizards can explain it to me.
The way someone explained it to me was that all the big oil producing countries get paid for their oil with the US dollar, this is the standard.
If the oil producing countries one day say "we've now decided we went to be paid for our oil with the Euro", then this will further drive the American dollar into the toilet and cause bigger economic problems.
Is this true or false?

and that folks, is one of the reasons why I got a diesel!
Gas ALWAYS goes up just before a holiday. This is because the oil companies know that people WILL travel, and PAY whatever it takes to travel on the holidays.
Diesel, on the other hand doesn't flucuate like that because desiel users are typ work vehicals and therefore don't increase their consumtion during holidays.
Around here diesel hovers around $1.50 gal
Of course I also like the power of a diesel. This thing hauls more and faster stock than my other one did with mods.

I'd say false.
Of course, I'm not an economist, I just play one on the internet.... or something.

CaptainO....don't feel too bad....
right now, here in Lost Angeles premium unleaded is anywhere from 1.89 to 2.05, and we don't have the luxury of having someone pumping it for us.
I was in NJ a few months ago (Edison and Princeton) Haven't been there in quite a long time and was amazed to find gas prices as low as they were, and that it was full service to boot. I got out of my rental and started pumping my own gas and this guy who worked there came up to me and asked me what I was doing. I looked around a realized that there were people who worked at the gas station and they did this for you. I haven't seen that in Los ANgeles for over twenty years.
There are a few stations around that offer full service, but it's around 3.00 a gallon if you go that way.
Oh yeah...and you have 93 octane
We've only got 91 and it's has a ton of California mandated additives that make the gas mileage crappy so that equates into even high gas prices per mile...
Screw it...I'm moving to New Jersey.
Oh wait...it's snowing there...never mind.

Around here (Dallas) Diesel prices flucuate similar to gas prices around vacation times and holidays. Although it's almost always cheaper than gas
But they may just be here, since a diesel F250/F350 can be seen on practically every corner, so most of the gas stations have started to sell diesel along with gas, especially the stations on the highway. Just about every station along I-20 carries diesel now.
