NEED OPINION!! Digital camera.
NEED OPINION!! Digital camera.
Ok, I have a delima. I'm looking at two different digital cameras. They're both $99, but here's the difference:
Camera #1
HP photosmart 433
3.1mp, 3x digital zoom, 16mb internal memory and accepts SD/MC memory cards, 1.5" LCD
And this one at staples comes with a digital accessory kit, which comes with "essentials from Adobe, Microsoft and Avery".
Camera #2
Kodak EasyShare CX4310
3.2mp, 2x digital zoom, 16mb internal memory and accepts SD/MC memory cards, 1.5" LCD
walmart link
I would like everyones opinions, even if you don't own the cameras I posted about, I would like your feed back on durability, quality, or anything else you have had with either HP or Kodak. Thanks guys!

I had an HP before my Canon, and I loved the camera, but I hated the quality! The Quality on the HP cameras needs a LOT of help.
Go with a Canon! Then you can say you've shot someone with a Canon
Here's a link to a fullsize picture I shot with my canon-

My vote is also for a Canon.
We have a Powershot G2, which is out of your price range, but Canon's digital camera's are great

Whatever you get, make sure that it doesn't use regular AA batteries. I have a HP Photosmart 210, so it is a little older model. The pictures are ok, but the thing eats up batteries and it wont work using rechargable batteries. I can only get about 25-35 pictures before the batteries die. I don't even dare use the screen because then I wouldn't get but about 15 pictures before the batteries die. Buying batteries all the time can get expensive.
I would like to get a new camera but can't right now.

Paul brings up a GREAT point. A built in rechargeable system is the ONLY way to go because all of the digitals on the market will eat AA's like they are appetizers!
Also, don't get too terribly caught up in the megapixel war. Unless you're printing wall-sized posters, you'll be fine with anything around 2.0. Seriously...
I know SONY isn't in your lineup but, I've bought a total of 5 Sony cameras (between work and home) and each and everyone of them have been ULTRA-NICE with ZERO problems and always excellent pics.
I know you can pic up a lesser model Sony on ebay fairly cheap. Just a thought...

the kodak uses a camera battery not AA and the dock will come with a recahgeable camera styale battery and it charges when you put it on the dock the hp was the same way but it gave you rechargable AA's that dont last nearly as long

but HP's are pretty much no-go when you're looking for something good.)
As was stated above...
Whichever camera you get it must have recharagable batteries or else you will spend a fortune on batteries....
I had a Canon powershot for my first digi camera and it only took cr5 batteries....
which are 12 bucks a pop and it ate thru that battery very quickly. You'll spend more on batteries than you will on the camera it it does not have a recharagable battery.
I would suggest you go to CNET.com and look thru the reviews on that site of the cameras you are considering. I have found their reviews to be pretty spot on, and there are also reviews from consumers so you actually get an idea of what people who actually own and use a product in real world situations think of it.
I personally own a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LC40S. It is not a well known digi camera, and it is not carried at a lot of stores, but I must say it is a hell of a camera. It has a Leica lens, it's four megapixels (if you use full resolution the pics can get pretty big) and the picture quality is awesome. It's probably more than you want to spend, but I highly recommend it.

Well I got the camera. It was the one listed on the wally world link. My dad sprung for the docking station, and I'm going to go take pics of things(truck) please excuse it since its really dirty, just got done taking tree limbs and what not to the junk yard(the yard waste section)
