03 Explorer Gets Stuck

When I was driving home I saw this happen right behind me:

There was an acident on the 18. Its a one lane highway that goes through the desert, so acident=highway closed. I was sitting there in the traffic, watching all the 4x4 trucks go around it in the desert and this lady behind me in a brand spanking new 03 Ford Explorer decided she was going to follow them. She gunned her truck and headed straight for the 3 foot burm of soft sand. She hit it at a 45 degree angle. Her left two tires came about 2 feet off the ground and then slammed down. She proceded to dig herself in, spraying dirt all over my truck. I'm suprised she didn't roll her SUV. Did I forget to mention she doesn't have 4 wheel drive? Right when she did that traffic cleared up and we drove off. I watched her in my mirror till she was outta sight, still digging herself farther in. I woulda helped her but all I could do is call her stupid. Of course if she would have rolled her SUV she would have blamed it on her tires

Dont worry Ive made an @$$ of myself before too, pretty much doing the same thing, but I was in a ranger. I would have helped her out, but I couldn't. I just wish someone was with me so I could have bet them. I saw it coming from a mile away.

That happends here too. The SUV's, Jeeps and 4X4 pick-ups are in the ditch or just off the road and the front wheel drive four bangers are motoring through the snow. I leave my 4X2 F150 in the garage because I know that it'll sit and spin trying to get out of the driveway, from every stop light and stop sign, and anywhere else I have to use any throttle. I'll take my girls Honda Civic over my F150 if I have to go out in the snow.

Driving in the snow is like the tortoise and the hare. Slow and steady will keep you out of ditch and get you where you need to go.
