You gotta realize that the USA is a little small speck of the worlds population, while it is a GIANT friggin blob of the worlds $

 

Assuming their data base is correct, and it probably is, yet another reason to thank our lucky stars we live where we do.

I think I know all of you well enough to be honest about Pat's and my income. We own a large retail store. We do not pay ourselves all that much in salary but owning your own business has some other advantages that are sort of "non-cash" income.
As well, we are allowed to pay ourselves a "dividend" which is basically paying back a small percent of the money we initially invested in the business and any further investments after that.

Looking at our tax filing for 2002, which was not a specially good year for us, we together made about $80K (two people mind you) and that would put us well into the top 1% and way ahead of about 2.5 billion other folks. Even if you cut the number in half, we are still in the top 1%.

It says I'm in the top 1.4%. Obviously this is a mistake as I live in the smallest house on the street.
Also, I could only afford the XLT, not the Lariet or King's Ranch like some other richer folks around here, not pointing any fingers (you know who you are)

Bill said it well, be thankful you don't live in India or Pakistan, or some other banana picking place, where you work your nuts off 12 hours a day for $12US per month.

We have it pretty good in this corner of the world.

Just to give some of you guys an idea on how the other half lives...

I was talking to the manager of one of the hotel restaurants I dined at when I was in middle east. I asked him how much the waitresses earned as I was curious.
Management goes to the Philippines and recruits fresh employees for the hotels.
They make between $300 - $800 per month (depending on the job) they get accommodations provided, a flight ticket home every 2 years, and 1 month holiday every 2 years, and they work like slaves 6 days a week (not 5)

And you know what? They are happy to get it because if they were back home in Manila or whatever, they work for much less.

There's a lot of people in this world who aren't buying Cervini hoods and superchips to make their truck go faster, we have it pretty good.

 

That’s why I have always said America has the RICHEST poor people in the world. If anyone owns a TV, a car, a microwave, etc they are not poor. The majority of “so-called” poor people in America have it made, free food, free money, free medical, free dental, heat assistance, low to extremely low rent.

If you added up all the benefits the “so-called” poor in America get they would be pretty close to $40,000 a year income, devastating isn’t it?

 

Hey I make minimum wage @ McDonalds yet still come out top 10%. Just imagine what would happen if I got that 25c raise! Gotta go back to finish eating out my fat boss, she likes to be pleasured during her break .
