Power rear slider pix?
Power rear slider pix?
Yeah, I know I've asked a million questions on this, and RockPick will probably kill me for posting in a different spot, but I just wanted everyone to see this...
Could anyone with a power slider please post some pix of the inside? (97-03)
Also, is there anyone on here with a power slider in a regular cab?
I'm about to attempt this, but went by the dealership today to check out one on an '03 Supercrew, and the design was slightly different... (plus the battery was DEAD, so I couldn't check it out) I'm just curious when they changed it. I got mine off ebay. It's a new Ford/CRL kit, but got damaged during shipping, so rather than send it back I decided to try to fix it, and they were nice enough to refund half the purchase price...
Now I just gotta find the dash trim, and switches for this and the pedals. Either that or find a SuperCrew window switch in dark graphite.
Thanks...

Shoot, I left my digital camera at work! Well, if no one posts, you'll see one tomorrow. I love the power slider but HATE the buttons for the pedals. To close to the slider buttons and, well, you get my drift....
I'm 6'2", there's only one position for the pedals for me - BACK!

I haven't forgotten about the pedals plug... I just keep forgetting to take a pic of it.
Didn't I get you the dash panel P/N? I thought I dug that out of the depths for something... *shrugs* Mind you, the PN was for the medium parchment (tan) piece.
Try contacting Torrie at torrie@fordpartsnetwork.com for a PN and price. He'll take care of you.
I have just about everything you're asking for (pics/Part Nums/etc) posted in various spots across the site... mainly in your threads.
*shrugs*

Hey, RP, sorry, I wasn't ignoring your info. Yes, you gave me the part number, and yes I checked on it. What I meant was that I'd still like to find one used somewhere. I think it was going to be $70 shipped, plus then I'll need two switches, and I'm sure they won't be cheap, so again used would be nice.
And I'm still curious why I've seen two different styles of windows, and if anyone has one in a regular cab...

I think I've figure out the pedal situation. The SuperCrew I checked out had them too, and I was able to get under there, and have a good look at a set installed.
And my biggest problem with the slider isn't mounting, but fixing it. The slider section seems to be able to twist, so when I close it (got it hooked up to a spare battery) it doesn't quite seal too good at the top. Has anyone noticed anything like this? Even on a manual slider?

I think the used dash panel might be a feat but, finding one without the holes shouldn't be too hellish. I mean, any expedition or F150 has that dash piece inside. You might have to dremel out the holes and pray that you don't goof it like I did and make them crooked.
You can get the switches from any old Ford Contour as they are the window control switches. That's where I got my slider switch... passenger door on a totaled Contour.
The wiring is cake, as I'm sure you realize.
Not sure on repairing the slider that you have. Posting a few pictures of what actually happend could be beneficial to toss some ideas around.

Well, I'll probably for now, just try to cut the dash panel I've got. If it doesn't look good, I'll go buy a new one. I guess like you did ,RP.
I'm going to call around to some salvage yards tomorrow morning, see if any of them have the Contour switch. I just never seem to be able to find window switches that look any good in a salvage yard, but you never know.
I think I've figure out the problem with my window. It's tweaked a little more than I thought. To try to explain, it's as if the right side were pushed up to high. I set the bottom of it against a flat surface, and could see it, and as I pushed it down the window straightened. I can only hope that when I put it in the truck the studs will pull it straight.
Also, on a side note I found out my pedals have memory since they are from a Navigator. I couldn't figure out why it has so many wires when the connector under the dash only has two. I'm assuming the memory is computer controlled, and not somehow within the motor assembly. Anyone know for sure?

Yeah, they're computer controlled. The computer recognizes individual keyfobs if I'm not mistaken... then adjusts to your settings.
That or it was wired into a 'select driver' type of system where you pushed a #1 or #2 for first or second driver and then it adjusts to your settings...
Can't remember which...
I definately know it's automatic and controlled by 'something' else.

Okay, so now I'm just bored... need to be in bed, or somewhere asleep anyway... but just looking at the slider over there, and wondering does anyone have trouble with pressure washing, and the sliders?

I didn't have any troubles whatsoever.
alrighty...
Well, I just got back from the salvage yard. No trim pieces, but I got the Contour switch and plug ($15), and another switch with the mounting clips broken ($5). I'm hoping that since I've got the plug for the pedal motor I've got the plug for the switch (already on my truck), and I'll come up with a way to mount the switch with the broken clips or just go get another. He had two cars, so 6 switches...
I'm not sure when I'll get to the window, but I'm going to go see if I can get the pedals working after lunch...
thanks guys...

Got the pedals in, and everything works just fine. It was a little tricky getting up under there, but not that big of a deal. I don't think "I" could have done it though without my air ratchet. I just didn't have room to fold up under ther AND turn a wrench.
I decided to just use my dash panel, and cut it. I used a water soluble marker to mark around the square part of the switch. Then when I had that cut I washed off the marker, and marked around the rounded ends, and the little notch. Just took my time, and kept checking the fit, and no problems. I'm not sure if it's as straight as the factory one, but I tried to get it kinda in between the angle of the headlight switch and the bottom of the panel.
The hole is just tight enough that I was able to wedge the switch with the broken mounts in, and it stays just fine. So, that worked out pretty good for only $5...

Here it is along with the air grinder I used.

I've got pictures of the pedals uninstalled, and then installed in the forward and back position in my gallery if anyone is interested.

Great job man!
Looks like you did a lot better on cutting the hole for the switch than I did.
Mine fit fine and didn't show any excess cut around the edges but, it was ever so slightly crooked and, long story short, it drove me batty.

Well, I'm happy with the way this one looks, but I'm worried about trying to match it with another switch, and get them straight in relation to each other. By far the hardest part of mounting the switch was marking it.

Oh yeah, man, I keep forgetting to take a pic of that plug for the pedals motor but, judging by what you've said, I'd assume that you've completed that task and really don't need that any longer. Let me know if you do... I'll try to remember to do that (and I haven't been very good at remembering... I'm sorry).
What's the status on the slider? Managed to get it fixed? I used to have an email for a guy that works at C.L. Laurence that could potentially help you out with repairs (although, he was in sales). I'll see if I can dredge that up. If nothing else, you might be able to send him a few pics and get his opinion on how to progress on the repair.
