F150 Beginning

What year were F150s first introduced?

trick question.

F1 was 1948. Then they changed to F100...

there was an F100 and F200 and the F150 was brought in as it had its payload halfway between the 100 and 200.

That was probably in the early 60's that the actual F150 name was put on a truck.

But Im probably wrong.

That's not entirely true. If I remember correctly 78 or 79 was the first year of the F150, and both were available until 84. The F150 was Ford's one finger salute to emissions laws required on 1/2 ton (F100) trucks...

It also seems like the F100 was available by special order (Custom) well into the 80's, and maybe even the 90's, but I'm not sure on that.

Don't look at me, Ford Motor Company seems to think they introduced the F150 in 1984; it's their website.

Well, from the Ford Truck Enthusiasts website 1976 was the first year of the F150...

My dad has a '76 F150 Custom so I know they go back at least that far....as soon as I get some time I'm going put some money in it cause its in really good condition...
