Said he's selling it order to get cash for a down payment on his house. At that price I'm betting it's a pretty nice home.

The people bidding on it are some folks from a Trans Am board I hang out at, and they are doing it to pull the sellers leg. You can see the reserve is much higher

One of them emailed the seller, and he understands what he's doing, I bet he's just putting it at that price to get people to look at it, and have it posted around on forums (which is happening)

No, ebay charges $40 (minumum plus an extra reserve fee if you want one) to list motor vehicals/traliers ect. Then they have a "service fee" of another $40 if the reserve it met, or the auction ends with a winning bid. They don't care if the sale is actually completed or not.

How do I know?

I had a camper on there (See Story), and the winning bidder didn't go through with it. I emailed ebay and got this response:
eBay does not charge a Final Value Fee at the close of Vehicle listings on eBay. Instead, eBay charges a Transaction Services Fee at the time of the first bid on your listing (or if you set a reserve price, at the time of the first bid over that reserve). For Passenger Vehicles and Other Vehicles, the Transaction Services Fee is $40. For Motorcycles, the Transaction Services Fee is $25.
You will not be charged a Transaction Services Fee if:
a.. there were no bids on your item
b.. there were no bids that met the reserve price on your reserve price auction
But otherwise you will be charged a Transaction Services Fee whether or not you carry out the sale with the buyer.

So if you list a car with a reserve for 2 million dollars, and people bid up to say 20,000 dollars, you could end up selling it for the reduced amount, without having to pay the additional "Transaction Services Fee" Of course the bidders are under no obligation to complete the purchase because the reserve wasn't met, but you have a good chance of selling it anyway. Which is probably what that guy intended. Plus pricing it well above the rest gets you top billing when people CAT by price, and of course it gets peoples attention.
If I list my Camper again, (after I finish rewring it) I should place a 10k reserve on it, and just sell it for less. It isn't honest, but hell, I already paid for it once. Good job eBay. That was my first time, and probably my last.

Andthensometoo:

I thought about listing my pop-up trailer on there but wasn’t quit sure about all the different fee’s and just how much it would cost me if it didn’t sale and then if it did sale but the buyer decided not to go through with it.

You think it would be easier if they just set a damn fee to place the ad on there. One price, what ever like $50 so then you would know up front how much it would cost to list it.

I had thought about using F150online classifieds but it looks like it is for trucks and truck items only.

When you had the first people come over and rape your camper did they have to give you a deposit upfront? If so where you able to keep that? If you didn’t get a deposit can you ask for one when selling and then if they back out keep the deposit?

yes, I kept the deposit, (See Story) but trust me, it wasn't worth it.

* edited because I wasn't trying to take over this thread.
