Hello from Abu Dhabi

Hey Homy's,

After a brutal 31 hour journey, I made it here to the land of sunshine and oil.
Just checking my hate mail from the hotel business centre

I ate like a swine at Trader Vik's, and now I will go back to bed after checking mailand stuff. Hopefully I will be back on track tomorrow (sleep wise)

I'll post a few pics since I brought my card reader with me.

I have an interesting observation I want to share:

During my flight from Frankfurt to Abu Dhabi, I noticed a rather large % of the people on board were US army, flying back to Kuwait / Iraq after taking leave (my flight made a stop in Kuwait)

I could not get over how young these kids were. Maybe because I'm getting older, everyone looks younger, but it seemd like all these people were in late teens, early 20's.
After spending the majority of the flight shooting the breeze with them, I have to say I was impressed by how they conducted themselves.

Their maturity was beyond what I ever imagined, very bright, and full of pride at what they were doing.
I have to say I was really full of admiration during that flight, and felt lucky to get to meet them.

I forgot where they were from, 181 or 182 airbourne (that sounds right)

All I could do at the end of the flight was shake their hands and thank them for what they were doing.

I was very impressed with this young group of men and women.

Regards
Habibi

Habibi, I wasn't too far from you a few months ago.

Yep, the 82nd Airborn is comprised of a bunch of guys just like you and me who have been put into a situation that made them mature "just a tad quicker" than most. That's what comes with the job. I am personally pleased that you were impressed with my fellow servicemen. If you go to the Army website, you can express your feelings to their chain of command, every little bit helps. They have a tough job. Unfortunately, usually they only get negative feedback from the American citizens they serve. It would be nice for them to hear something positive from the people they protect.

Thats because all the *****bags wen't AWOL and weren't on your flight. My best friend has been in Iraq since Febuary of '02. He's with the 82nd, who usually are a great group of guys, unlike those puking buzzards (the 101). I must say if I would have know this was all going down when I enlisted in 01 I would have taken the airborne school or told them to station me with the 3rd ID when I signed up, then I'd be over there helping out too.

How long are you going to be out there? I will probably be in Dubai and Abu Dhabi myself in a couple of weeks.
Got to see some people at the Jebel Ali Freezone first then up to AD to the Mussafa industial estate.
I wouldn't mind a feed at Trader Vic's myself and then a small beer with the Russian girls in 49 ers on top of the Dana Hotel

EnglishAdam, I am here until the 9th, perhaps longer, not sure right now.
Tomorrow I'm going to Dubai.

The Russian girls all went home for Ramadan, they need a vacation too (only the ugly ones remained behind )

If you will be here while Im here, would love to GTG for dinner and some evening activities in Dubai (The clubs are open in Dubai this Ramadan, so drinking is allowed)

Do you have a hotel selected yet? I'm staying at the Beach Hotel, it's connected to the brand new AD shopping mall, the beach and facilities are awesome.

LFG, ask and you shall receive, what size do you take?
T-shirt orders are now closed, you had to act fast

Regards

Bugger.

I won't be there till after the 9th so perhaps some other time.
I'm currently in Holland at the moment and will just have to catch up with F150Europe instead for a quiet night out in Amsterdam.
