ACLU
In regards to the lady in Florida, Terri Schiavo…
ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) says “Screw you and your civil liberties, if your considered in a vegetable state and someone wants you DEAD, then baby your DEAD”. Furthermore, Terri Schiavo, we will do everything in our power to INSURE you starve to death.”
Well, they have not actually come out and said that because they don’t have the courage to do so, to tell the public what they really stand for.
The ACLU has decided to join up with Terri’s husband and join hands, pray and of course spend thousands of tax payer’s dollars to insure another human beings civil liberties are terminated by starving them to death.
I would imagine that anyone belonging to a PRO-death organization such as the ACLU would be extremely upset and dumbfounded to find they are supporting a hit squad for hire.
It truly saddens me that a husband would wish for his wife to starve to death and the screwed up court system backing him all the way when the parents wish for their daughter to live. It is extremely disturbing that there is a BIG organization willing to kill someone off by starving them to death to make a political statement.
Any inputs or thoughts on the issue?

I can only say for myself.... If I am ever in that position, I have made it very clear that I don't want to be a financial, or emotional, burden on my family. I would rather they let me go and get on with their lives. 50 years ago, this would not have been an issue. We wouldn't have had the technology to do it.
We have the technology to clone human beings; but, that has been deemed immoral. How much more moral is it to put her husband through this, because her parents won't let go? Just because we can do something, doesn't mean we should. I understand that it is a hard thing to do; but, I feel THEY, her parents, are being selfish in this matter. The courts have ruled in the husband's favor on more than one occasion over the years. If not for Jeb Bush, it would be over already; and, her parents could begin to move on now instead of later.
Not everyone is going to agree on this. It's not an argument that can be won. It's based on personal beliefs rather than tangible facts. That's why I've refrained from putting my 2 cents in on previous threads about this issue. I probably should have stayed that course; but, I didn't.

I realize that this woman is not in a coma so it's different, but I once knew a girl that had been in a coma (before I met her) and she said it was the most peaceful rest she has ever had and that she wished everyone could experience how wonderful it was (I'm not making this up).
I only bring this up because I've heard both sides of the arguments about how she feels. I've heard people on the radio say "she wants to live" and I've heard "she wants to die and end her suffering". The truth is we don't know how or what she's thinking and I believe it's better to err on the side of life than death. I believe that it's possible for her to recover. I DON'T think it will happen, but I do believe it's possible.

and I agree with Odin...it's an argument that can't be won.

However, what bothers me in this case is from what “little” I have heard is Terri has not told anybody about her wish but her husband. Some say it’s personal and that she may have only wanted to tell her husband. Perhaps that is true, but since I have heard nothing from no one else, in reports, such as from friends or other family members it gives me a reason to say “wait”.
I can understand the battle between the parents and the husband and then the Governor stepping in because there is a life on the line. If the United States Supreme court was to step in and over ride what the Governor did then I could most likely live with that.
What really bothers me is that a major organization such as the ACLU is stepping in for pure political reasons. They are a liberal organization of which takes issue with what a Republican Governor did and thus the reason they jump into the mix.
I just find something very disturbing when an organization plays with a human life for politically reasons.
It seems to me that regardless of what kind of vegetative state you may be in, (I want to go on record that I didn't call New Hampshire a state full of vegetables.) starving a person to death is not, nor shall ever be, a viable means for a court to end someone's life. Lethal injection, removing an artificial breathing device or pacemaker may be considered under certain circumstances, but withholding food and water..... Nah, not buying it even if it is running into her body through a tube. Combine that with the fact that she put nothing in writing prior to her medical emergency just reinforces the fact that she should be "maintained" as per her birth parents wishes.
As stated, an argument that can't be won.... sure, how can you possibly win this type of debate. Once reasoning is involved, we all have our different bells and whistles.
