My latest ride...Big Green
Below I have pictures of what I have been driving the most lately...often for 10 hours or more. Soybean harvest is almost finished, we have about 50 acres left...we'll knock that out tommorrow.
Everything has been going well despite the long days, only a few minor mechanical problems. Nothing that cant be fixed in an hour or two. The weather has been excellent, daytime highs in the 70's, lows in the 40's and lots of sunshine. Yeilds are down due to the drought that we had from July - September. Some farmers have had yields as low as 5 bushel/acre, the lowest we've had is 10 bu/acre with some fields topping out at 25 bu/acre. These are the best looking/worst yielding beans my dad has ever seen. They are tall with a fair amount of pods, but once they got to that point the moisture dried up and the pods didnt fill out very well at all.
Just thought I'd give you guys an update and let you know Im still alive and kickin...havent been on here much lately. Here's some pics that I took yesterday while my dad was combining.
Here's my dad posing..."Look! No hands!" Problem is that in the process of doing that he picked up a rock and it got wedged underneath the auger...doh! At least he quit doing things like he used to in his younger days. Years ago in an attempt to see how the combine was performing (to make sure it wasnt blowing grain out the back) he used to set the combine going straight down the rows, then he would hop off the combine and walk behind it to check. Then he had to run back up and hop onto the ladder.

01 XLT: LMAO...you crack me up. Yeah I think this JD would make pretty quick work of his lawn. How big is your lot RP? Im sure it would go pretty quick 20 feet at a time.
Good to see you too 01.
Ford Lariat...well even my Ford buddies think my Chebby is pretty cool. It works well for me and will continue to do so until I maybe get a Ford again. Until then you guys will have to put up with a bowtie guy among your ranks.
