What's the slickest lubricant out there?
What's the slickest lubricant out there?
My son has a pinewood derby coming up and there is no "dry lubricants only" on the axles rule this year. I've given the white lithium grease a try. It was fantastic for about an hour and then it started to set up or something. It's still smooth but nowhere near as slippery as when I first applied it.
Any suggestions?

As soon as I hit submit on my original post, this voice came screaming from the back of my brain saying, "THAT WAS A MISTAKE".
I was ready for a lot of *good* answers but I have to admit "Astroglide" caught me completely by surprise

In Jr. high we made CO2 powered cars. They were cool. Back then the rules wern't as Tight and you could do a few tricks. On the back wheel, we would take and sand down all but the very inside of the wheel. That way only a fraction of the wheel was touching the surface. We would also do that in the front as well. But shape that to a point so they would help cut the air better and have little surface tension. For the axles we used dry Graphite (not sure if you could use spray's lubricants or not) To keep the CO2 cartrage from Blowing out, we put a penny in the end (which added weight, so you could cut out more of the body)
It was a fun project.
Enjoy the great time you spend together!!!
