Got hit by the new Blastworm virus. LEft the computer on, went out to chill with friends the other night, and when I got back an error message was popping up every 5 minutes telling me my computer would re start automatically in 60 seconds. Turns out you dont even need to download anything or open email attatchments to get screwed, this one comes in the form of a pop-up ad. MAke sure if you're running any form of Windows that you get to the Microsoft site and keep current with all the security patch downloads, they have one specifically for the blast worm. It's not the end of the world if you catch the blast worm, as it doesn't seem to be among the nastiest bugs ever created. With the help of a Microsoft rep, within 5 minutes I had it temporarily disabled and was back online to get removal instructions without having to worry about it shutting me down repeatedly. Within about 3 days my computer was completely clear. But it would have been ten times easier if I just downloaded the patch. Just a reminder and a warning as I wouldn't want others to go through the same bullshot I dealt with over the weekend.
