Well I guess we gotta be famous for something! 
Luckily I live in the 4th safest city (at one point, according to the FBI) in the US. In our news paper they have a crime section. I remeber a few weeks ago the big theft was some divorce papers from someones house, valued at $1.

Seattle and Tacoma aren't 'TECHNICALLY' the same place but, they're damn near it. My hunch is that the boneheads that are stealing cars in Seattle are nabbing them right up the road in Tacoma.
