Before and After

Before:

After:

Looks like I only need a bumber. The thing that sucks the most is that I have only had it for one month.

Look on the bright side, now you have that "pre-runner" look for free.

Yeah it could have been much worse. The fog lights didn't bust at all. And I can probably reuse the trim on top of the bumber. But I did notice some cracking right under the hood latch. So that piece will need to be replaced as well. I just hope that the frame isn't bent at all.

I was driving around tonight for a while and it feels like normal.

I will post updates when I get more information.

Why does this stuff have to happen right after me buying my very first new vehicle. I drove a 1976 F150 4X4 for 5 years and never got a single scratch on it. I buy myself a 2003 and one month to the day later I get into an accident.

I'm sorry to hear this but so glad you're ok & that it wasn't worse. I am concerned though about our trucks. How is it possible that so much damage can happen in such a minor collision? Does it seem like our trucks crumple too easily?
BTW - how bad was the Ranger? Hopefully not bad at all if the hitch took the brunt of the impact. Then you don't have to worry about insurance woes.
Good luck & keep us posted ok?

Cowlady:

GOOD to see you again, I thought maybe you had been kidnapped or something. I would say when ever you rear end someone that has the tow hitch sticking out is going to cause some good damage. It is bolted to the frame so there is very little give in the hitch.

Second, our trucks like just about every vehicle on the road are indeed designed to crumple very easy. Their energy absorbing designs that though they look awful, and cost a ton of money to repair is what makes it possible for less injuries to the occupants of vehicles…

I would be willing to bet if the other person had not had a tow hitch sticking out there would have been more damage to the truck then just the front bumper since there would have been more impact area on both vehicles.

God of Rapture:

It is great that you were not injured...

ROFL

Aw, that is so sad, your truck is frowning! But hey, I guess that's what bumpers are for... they should make them out of Nerf, though, so you acutally 'bump' back...
