I say 'no', not such a good deal.

US dollars:

Invoice = 28,424
MSRP = 32,405

Invoice divided by MSRP = 87.7 Percent.

Canadian MSRP = 44,205 X 87.7 percent = Canadian Invoice (38,768)

You are only $768 (Canadian) under invoice.

What rebates are involved?

I think they need to come down another $1,500 Canadian.

Tell them $36,500 or we are walking.
(and tell them I don't want to hear anything else)

p.s.
A year ago it would have been an 'excellent' deal but, the truck is a year older, I'm a year older and I'm bitter.

Then I would have just one question for them.

"Where the hell is it?"

You can buy 2003 Fords all day long for invoice.

If there is a rebate involved substract the rebate from invoice and start there to figure out how good a deal it is.

The numbers do add up to my guesstament.
I figured you were about $768 under invoice and wanted another $1500 off. That's a total of $2,268 and now you reveal there is a $2,000 rebate involved.

OK, if I really like the color we can work a deal at $36,732.

Many rebates, at least here in MI, expired Oct 1st.
My MSRP was about 40k, I got Xplan (close to invoice) minus $4,500 in rebates for a bottom line of about 31k. So 24% off MSRP for a end of year model is about right.
Heck if you are only getting $1,500 off, you may as well get a 04.

I think the dealer makes more on Xplan pricing than invoice pricing, due to the different incentives Ford has set up. My rebates broke down to:
1k for ford loyalty. (must prove you had a ford previously)
1k for xplan. (don't know why)
1k for something else. (don't know)
1,500 for select model clearence.

Anyway, the first dealer I went to tried to give me invoice price including the rebates. If I were you, I'd go to another dealer, and/or get an 04. Heck, go to another dealer anyway. Make them work a bit for your business.
I found this out, so it may be handy for you to know: After a certain date, all unsold 03's go to an auction house, and the public won't be able to buy them from the regular Ford dealers.

yeah, I think $38k is probably invoice and doesnt take into account the additional Ford rebate.

Ask to see the invoice so you know for sure if they are ripping you off or not.

You can't just convert the Invoice from USD to CDN, ford doesn't do it that way.
