I'm starting a small buisness from home. Back in high school I learned HTML, and it works fine. However, what I'm looking for is a program that will make it easy to build a site that is somewhat based on the ebay layout. (That's the best descriptive site I could think of to relay my point.) I need to set the site up in a way that visitors can surf through not only catagories of info, but also search. I've been doing a little Internet searching, and have come across some programs. If any of you have experience with certain ones, or know of some that could help me, I'd much appriciate it. Thanks!

 

Do you want a program where you tpy the HTML yourself, or a WYSIWYG editor? I know of several good free HTML text only editors, like Stones HTML editor, but if you want a good WYSIWYG editor you'll have to pay for it... I've tried a bunch, the one that fits my needs most is MS Word, I know, the code is really messy in Word, but I can find what I need by searching. If you're looking for a HTML editor that makes clean HTML you need to look for something other than MS Word.

 

I've used severl and my choice is Homesite. Easy to use, good if you want to manually edit the HTML code, makes the more time comsuming parts of typing the code in easier and keeps the code readable.

Are you looking for a program like eBay? (i.e. pre-built auction software that operates like eBay) Or, are you looking for software to help you design a site that simply looks like eBay?

I'll be entering information frequently, so, I'll probably want to stay away from HTML editing. (Time consuming)

I would like for a user to come to the site, select a catagory, and browse, also, if the user chooses, they can just type in keywords, and be taken to the page with the information they typed in.

I checked out that link, that is very very close to what I'm looking for. However, I do not want it "auction" style, more of a "Buy Now" option, I wonder if it'll work that way. I'll E-Mail the company. Thanks a BUNCH Steve, this helps out a lot!
