Not to mention the $500 Credit per kid (Credit equals direct subtraction from tax bill)

That guy pays much less than you, not "...as much".

(Sorry, didn't mean to depress you)
Sorry??? I think getting kicked in the nuts is less painfull then facts like that.

Gotta disagree with you there. Alot of teachers spend plenty of time working through part of their 3 months summer vacation getting ready and planning for the upcomming new year. Many teachers go home after a long day of work and spend well into the night grading papers and tests, etc.

The 'understatement' is useful literary tool when applied so subtly that 'most' readers are affected by it without discerning its existence.

How about this for taxes:
Do away w/ income and property tax altogether. Increase the the sales tax to compensate the diference. This method would get rid of the leaches at the IRS and encurage business growth.

Well on the surface that is one way to tax fairly. Those that can afford to buy the bigger and better toys would pay more while those who only buy the necessities would pay less. It would also give taxpayers an avenue to voice their opinion about any tax increases. In other words if the people felt it was too high or being spent in the wrong areas they could simply close their wallets and stop buying…

Could have a few bugs in it, but nonetheless it’s a good starting point at disassembling the IRS…

I should be fair and note that any kind of a sales tax option to replace income and federal taxes is likely to fail. The liberals will do their best to stop it. You see they know what would happen with a fair tax system such as a sales tax:

It would give the rich a big tax break, and it would increase taxes on the middle and low income families…

Hey '01, pull some info from the IRS archives and you'll find that the middle class carries the bulk of the tax burden, and has for many years. Wealthy folks have more loopholes and deductions than any other class. Trust me, if we got rid of 90% of the IRS and their miles of everchanging rules, and simply instituted a taxing structure where everyone is taxed at a flat rate, the wealthy would be the loudest screamers in the bunch! God forbid that they should have to pay their fair share.

I am all for a flat tax or sales tax, either one would insure it is fair and the same percentage across the line...

I thought the wealthiest 10% of Americans pay 50% of the total taxes.

The 50% maybe off a bit, but I thought I heard it was really skewed like that.

96% of the taxes are paid by the top 50% of wage earners.

I will try to get some better break downs later tonight if I have a chance…

that really sucks!!!!! What the hell are the other half doing? Besides getting a free ride. I am a gainfully employed, single, childless male. Approximately 33% of my junk belongs to somebody else before I can even get my hands on it. I love this country and my freedom, but dang, I am a cash cow for the govt.

The 50% of wage earners that are paying 96% of federal taxes are the loaded ones making more then $26,000.00

Makes you wonder what the other 50% are doing? Perhaps sitting on the couch watching Oprah, eating their FREE food, and waiting for their CHECK to arrive in the mail…
